How Wyze Users Shape Product Roadmaps and Improvements

Hey friends! If you've ever had a brilliant idea for a smart device, you've probably wondered, "Why doesn't anyone make that?" At Wyze, we think the best ideas don't come from our boardroom—they come from your living room. Seriously.

Customer-centric product development isn't just a fancy phrase for us; it's the heartbeat of our company. It's how we ensure that our technology actually solves the real problems you face every day. You bought the gear, and we think you should own the experience—and that starts with owning a seat at the design table.

We even let you handle the tape measure sometimes.

What is a Customer Centric Approach and Why It Matters

This unique process is simple: we design products with your real-world experience as the absolute priority. We don't guess what you want; we ask for your input right from the earliest stages of development.

A customer centric approach means we design products with your real-world experience as the absolute priority. We don't guess what you want; we ask. We track what you're saying, what features you use the most, and what problems you're running into, and we integrate that feedback right into our official product roadmap.

Why do we do this?

  • Better Products for You: When we listen to you, we build features you actually need, not just tech specs that sound cool.
  • Transparency and Trust: By showing you how your ideas become reality, we're building a relationship, not just selling a device.
  • The Best Value: Your feedback helps us focus our resources on the most impactful features. That's how we continue to offer premium quality without the premium price tag.

This feedback driven development means your Wyze devices are constantly getting smarter—and you deserve all the credit.

Your Ideas in Action: How We Turn Feedback into Features

Your customer feedback integration has led to some of the most popular and powerful features in the entire Wyze ecosystem. You spoke, and we got busy. Here are a few examples of community wishes that became core products or updates:

  • 24/7 Continuous Recording: Early on, our community poured in requests for the option to record every moment, not just motion alerts. By including the microSD card slot and unlocking continuous recording, we gave you the ability to turn your camera into a full, local DVR system that records continuously—peace of mind, all the time.
  • Outdoor Durability for Pan Cams: You loved the flexibility of our Pan Cam, but you constantly asked: "Can we use it outside?" We took that wish and delivered a complete redesign with the Wyze Cam Pan V3, giving it an IP65 rating so you get 360-degree coverage that can withstand the weather.
  • Simpler Device-to-Device Linking: You asked for an easy way to make your Wyze products talk to each other without needing complicated routines. We built the "Run Device" action into Rules, so your Wyze Lock can directly tell your Wyze Bulb to turn on when you get home—making smart automation simpler than ever.
  • A Simpler Power Port for Wyze Cam Pan V4: Sometimes, the most important improvements are the small ones that fix a daily annoyance. Our community pointed out that the power cable on previous Pan Cams was a pain to plug into the base. We listened and updated the design on the Wyze Cam Pan V4 to include an all-new Type-C pigtail. It's a tiny change, but it removes a setup frustration, showing we’re listening to every detail to make your experience as simple as possible. We want your setup to be smooth, not an exercise in extreme cable yoga.

Whether it's a game-changing feature like 24/7 continuous recording or a simple quality-of-life fix like an updated power port, all of these improvements are value-adding, and they’re all driven by thousands of users just like you.

How You're Training the Future: User Feedback and Wyze AI

The Wyze community is helping us build the future of smart technology, especially in the world of Artificial Intelligence. You aren't just using our smart tech—you're actively helping to train and refine the engine that powers our most advanced features.

Wyze isn't an AI company that happens to make cameras; we're a customer-centric company that uses AI to make your life simpler. And guess what? You’re the one who trains it!

Training the AI to See What Matters

Think of our Smart Detections—like identifying a person, package, or pet—as an ever-learning student. When you get an alert, and you tell the app, "No, that wasn't a person, that was just a shadow," that's not just a dismissal; it’s a high-value data point that gets immediately fed back into our AI model. Thanks to you, our AI is finally graduating from "Sees a branch, calls it a person."

The goal of this feedback loop is to dramatically cut down on false alarms. We want you to be alerted only to things that truly matter. It's about respecting your attention. Every time you review an event and confirm or deny the detection label, you are essentially:

Refining the Model: You teach the AI to distinguish between wind-blown branches and an actual person, making it smarter for the entire community.

Empowering Your Time: Better AI means fewer false notifications, letting you live your life without constantly checking your phone.

Our Biggest AI Win: You Told Us What a Package Looks Like

One of our most popular features, Package Detection, was only possible because of our community. Early AI models struggled to accurately identify a delivery box in various conditions (rain, shadows, different porch settings). Our beta testers and everyday users provided thousands of labeled images and corrected false alerts.

This collective effort taught the AI what a package looks like across the entire country, making Package Detection incredibly reliable and a seriously useful feature for anyone worried about porch piracy.

How We Gather Your Great Ideas

We've made it simple to get your ideas directly to the people who build the products. Our entire customer-centric product development process revolves around collecting and prioritizing the best insights from our friends. Here are the three primary ways we listen and collect feedback:

  1. The Wyze Community Forum: This is the most active hub. It hosts a dedicated "Wishlist" thread where you can post, vote on, and discuss new features and products. Our development teams check this thread constantly.
  2. Beta Testing Groups: For our most passionate users, we run public and private beta programs. When a product is in development, beta users get hands-on with it and provide immediate, detailed feedback on what's working and what needs a tweak before it goes to the public.
  3. Customer Support Data: Our support team isn't just there to help you troubleshoot; they log every common question, frustration, and request they receive. This data is reviewed weekly by product managers to identify pain points that need immediate attention.

Pro Tip: Focus on the Problem, Not the Solution

The best notes are detailed and focus on the problem you're trying to solve, not just a specific solution. For example, telling us "I want my front porch light to turn on when I open the door after sunset" is more helpful than just saying "Add IFTTT support." It's all about the real-world use case.
