We want to ensure that we offer the best possible experience at launch. We will need more time to thoroughly test support beyond 4 cameras and decide if we can allow more cameras per base station in the future. For now, if you need more than 4 cameras, you can buy another starter bundle to get an extra base station.

Yes, Wyze Cam Outdoor is compatible with Cam Plus. Use Cam Plus to remove the cooldown period, record longer Event Videos, and have more smart detection features.

Wyze Cam Outdoor is built for maximum flexibility so that you can truly put it anywhere you want even if that is outside or where there is no power outlet. Continuously recording to a micro SD card like Wyze Cam v2 will make the battery life extremely short. Because of this, we did not build this feature and Wyze Cam v2 is still the best option for this use case. However, we did build a "Scheduled Recording" feature where you can schedule specific times for the camera to continuously record to its local micro SD card or record when PIR is triggered though this will reduce battery life. This feature combined with Travel Mode will allow you to take the camera anywhere to record anything you want even if there is no WiFi available.

The cooldown period is adjustable between 1 minute, 3 minutes, and 5 minutes. The Event Video length is 12 seconds. Add Cam Plus to remove the cooldown period and record full-length Event Videos.

The battery can last up to 3 to 6 months with normal usage (about 10-20 Event alerts per day). Battery life varies based on settings, usage, and environment temperature.

With the included mounting base, you can mount the camera in either a wall-mount or ceiling-mount position. The camera and the mounting base are connected using magnets. Alternatively, the camera also has a standard 1/4-20 screw hole at the bottom and you can use any compatible 3rd-party mounting kit.

Wyze Base Station can be used wired with an ethernet cable or wirelessly with WiFi. The base station requires an ethernet connection to the router during setup. Once setup is complete, you can either keep the wired connection, or switch to a WiFi connection in the Wyze app.

The camera will function while charging. However, this is not recommended as the camera is built with the intention of running primarily off of its battery power.

The micro SD card slot on the camera is meant for the time lapse and scheduled recording features. This is meant to save videos that you intend to shoot with the camera such as a specific task continuously recorded over a couple of hours or monitoring a remote area without WiFi. This is not meant for constant continuous recording like with Wyze Cam v2.

The micro SD card slot on the base station is meant for a backup of the 12-second Event Videos. This is a good feature to use if you are concerned about the camera becoming lost, stolen, or damaged where it is mounted.

The base station is primarily used to improve the battery life by keeping the camera power consumption low. It also provides a reliable internet connection via an ethernet cable and removes compatibility issues with different router brands.

We have added a new feature for Wyze Cam Outdoor because we understand that the risk of theft is higher with products that are mounted outdoors. We built a mechanism that prevents a new account from setting up the camera if it is already paired with a Wyze account unless the original account releases it. In short, if someone steals the camera, the camera will not be able to be used again unless the owner removes the camera from their account. 

Yes, the Wyze Cam Outdoor would need to stay paired with your account to prevent another person from using it. We are looking into ways to improve this experience after launch.

Originally, we looked into solving our battery problems with kyber crystals. But, due to limited supply and rebel subterfuge, we were forced to go with lithium ion batteries instead. We kept the original design after realizing that it helps improve the accuracy and function of the Wyze Cam Outdoor’s passive infrared motion detection.

The biggest differences for Wyze Cam Outdoor compared to Wyze Cam v2 is the IP65-rated weatherproofing and the built-in battery allowing it to be truly wire-free. Wyze Cam Outdoor also features a PIR (passive infrared) sensor to detect motion while Wyze Cam v2 uses a pixel comparison algorithm. We also developed a travel mode for times where there may not be WiFi available when you are using this camera. Wyze Cam Outdoor was designed to excel in a harsh environment without readily available power sources.

Yes, this camera can be used indoors. Although it is possible that a Wyze Cam v2 would be better equipped for your use case if there is a power outlet available.
