What You Need to Know Before Getting Started

  • Wyze Cam v2 works with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks. Wyze Cam v2 does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi networks.
  • You must download and use the Wyze app (available in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store) to access all the features.
  • Wyze Cam v2 does not have a battery so it needs to be plugged in. It comes with a 6-foot power cord, which can be extended to 11-feet with the Mounting Kit.
  • Wyze Cam v2 is designed for indoor use only.
  • Add a microSD card (sold separately) to use the continuous recording and timelapse features.

    You can’t get a better cam for the price or almost even double. The software is great and they are always listening to the community (Forums) and updating it to have new features and fixes. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is not because of the product but because of the customer service, it’s a bit on the slow end but I kinda get it, I mean, having a product this cheap you need to cut some corners elsewhere and I see CS being one of them. Shipping is also a tad bit slow but again, nothing that is a deal breaker, once you get the product, you’ll see what I mean.

    As another customer already mentioned; Before buying, there is a statement that say’s it will ship out that same day if ordered before 2pm, which I did. Two days have passed and it’s still in the *Processing* stage. :-/

    I hate to give anyone 1 star but this one had to be done. The 1 star review is for Wyzecam’s customer Service. I placed an order yesterday at 10:00 am Eastern for 2 wyzecam 2 cameras. This is my 4th purchase. I love the cameras. It would be nice if they could be in a window without reflecting the glass with the night vision, but that is something I can work with. The Camera is great. So back to the story at hand. I ordered and on the order page is states
    “Orders placed before 2 pm Pacific Time Monday – Friday will be shipped the same day.
    Ok so its 10:00 am Eastern Time which is 3 hours ahead of Pacific. So I made my order paid for it, and waited for my confirmation email. But instead I get an email saying that my order is on hold. So I email customer service since I tried to call customer Service multiple multiple times and was told that no one was available. I get Michael and he states “looks like your order was selected for Manuel review and its typically very quick process but I will make a note & send it over to our review team. This is at 12:00 pm his time. Again, I asked him will it still ship since I ordered before 2pm PST and there were no issues with my card. It ran on my card right away. SO I send three more emails asking if it is going to be shipped on Tuesday as promised per your website. And Michael sends me back an email this morning after my 4th email to him and says per our shipping policy it usually takes a day for your order to be processed I know you thought it would be sent out earlier. But then he gives me the link to the shipping policy which reads:
    Orders placed Monday – Friday by 2pm Pacific Time will be shipped out the same day. Orders placed during the weekend or after 2pm will be processed and shipped out the following Monday.
    Ok so in writing on their website is this above.
    I placed my order 10:am Eastern Standard time, which is 3 hours before their time, yet my order was not shipped out yesterday and is still in process at their company. I am sorry but that is horrible customer Service. If you have that as your policy than you should follow it.
    My one My review is a 1 because of customer service. I love the camera this is my 4th. but customer service is horrible I placed my order at 10 am eastern time. on the order form it states that if ordered before

    The text on the website that says “Orders placed before 2 pm Pacific Time Monday – Friday will be shipped the same day” is not accurate. I placed an order at 11AM (Eastern)/8 AM (Pacific) yesterday. Thirty minutes later, I received an email saying, “Your Order ###### is being fulfilled at the warehouse and will ship soon.” The status 24 hours later is STILL showing as “pick/pack” and no tracking information has been provided. The reviews on the cameras are great, but I wanted to provide a review on the ordering/shipping experience…which thus far has not been.

    My wife suffered a brain injury last November. She is currently still very weak on her left side and spends most of her day on the couch or in her bed in what was once my office. I wanted to be able to monitor her at all times and also monitor activity in and around the house. I came across the Wyze cams and decided to give them a try. EXCELLENT!!!
    I have one pointing out my front window to monitor visitors. I will be mounting that outside soon. It has already proven useful in catching a douche bag trying to break into my car…..that matter was dealt with. Another in my garage with motion and sound turned on. Comes in handy when friends want to borrow tools. The 3rd is sitting on top of a bookshelf keeping a close eye on my wife. The fact that I can talk through it too is awesome. There is a bit of lag but other wise perfect. Can’t say enough about these things.

    I just purchased first Wyze V2 Camera and I love it. There is great value for the price. The quality is great. The videos are very good. I live in a woods, and don’t get the best sunlight, and I was surprised how well the video footage was in those conditions. I was also very happy with how easy it was to set up. I also purchased the SD micro along with it, and it also was easy to insert in to the camera. I live alone, and am gone many hours during the day, and It is a load off my mind. I love having a way of checking live, and the camera capturing events that happen while I am away. It has already happened. Thanks WYZE!

    I just ordered my 3rd Wyze Cam v2 & 4th overall (I have one Wyze Cam Pan). These are fantastic cameras! This is one of those rare cases where you more than get what you pay for. I love the idea of a smart home, but this allows you to do it on more of a reasonable budget. I have one at my front door, in my basement (we’ve had water get in before), and in my garage (the magnetic base was an awesome benefit, as I just attached it to the front of the garage door opener). As a renter, this has been especially helpful to point out issues to my landlord. Kind of hard to ignore video confirmations that are time stamped too.

    I recommend these to all my friends! Why waste the money on other, much more expensive ones?

    First let me tell you that I have 3 of these cameras 1 is the original 2nd was the updated unit and 3rd is the Pan Cam and all 3 are amazing. I use them to monitor the front of my house but are placed on the inside window. And the Pan cam is being used in the living room to make sure when my young son leaves and comes home from school. All the false reviews on this site are bogus they probably angry that they paid an arm and a leg for the more expensive cam for example Nest , Drop or any other cams on the market.

    I ordered a Wyze Cam V2 camera to replace a “Momemtum” Camera that I use to keep an eye on my pets when we are not at home. I was very impressed with the easy set up, the HD quality, and the size of the camera itself, not to mention the price. I’ve only had it a day, and was so impressed I went online and ordered the Wyze Pan camera. I ordered the V2 off this site, but ordered the Pan camera from Amazon because I am guaranteed to have it by Sunday. I would have never known these cameras existed had I not seen an amazing Facebook video of your beautiful little girl singing with you. You both are extremely talented!! I searched for more music videos and stumbled upon your story and decided to order a camera. I will definitely encourage my family and friends to check out your awesome products!

    I feel more confident about leaving my house after my house has been targeted for B&E’s by a local group of losers. I highly recommend these little cameras. Picture is HD, and very clear. I can record longer than 12 s. if I push the button on screen, but the auto with motion detection does 12 s. I have bought them as an addition to a heavy duty exterior camera system. These ones are for indoors and are easily set up and moved as I need. The app must be updated and changed since some have left negative reviews as everything with it is perfect. setting up notifications and the motion area doesn’t send hundreds of messages..works great in the day. Where I have them facing in my yard is dark and it doesn’t work well there at night. But like I said, a back up systems if the weather is too cold this works indoors. I have recommended these to my friends & family, for the price you cant go wrong.

    I used to have another security system cameras. I had to run wires for each cam. When I discovered Wyze, I said to myself, Why don’t give it a try?. Well, i bought two just to see how it works. No more wires! After that I bought 5 more! (3 to my apt. and 4 to my father in law’s house) These cameras are awesome! Perfect image, day and night!

    This is an excellent camera. I borrowed it from my sister after our second baby made an early appearance (we hadn’t gotten a camera yet). Excellent quality! We have a Y-cam for our other son, and this is way better in every sense. I was shocked to see the sticker price. For starters, the picture is very clear, including the night vision. The option to put an SD card is great, the app is far superior than the y-cam, and so much cheaper!
    Today I bought another one for my oldest son’s room to replace the y-cam. I got the more “expensive” one that can rotate. If its anything near as good as this, I’ll be one happy camper!

    I don’t normally feel the need to reply to another reviewer, but krtmckenney this is for you.
    Does it make you feel powerful when you can anonymously try to tear down another person or in this case a company?
    Are you so negative that you have nothing “ever” to say that is good or positive?
    Have you never ever had a perfectly good product fail, not because it was a bad product, but because nothing in life is perfect and sometime good products will not work?
    Are you the type person, that at the slightest problem, can’t handle it and thus flies off into a rage?
    Do you find joy in trying to demean others by calling them morons? Does that make you feel special?

    And to think that you actually thought about suing over a $20 product, just shows how you and many in this country like you have become so litigious…and for no real reason.
    It is interesting that you are not even a Verified Purchaser, which makes me think that either you just like being a giant jackass troll or you’re are the competition that is afraid of what Wyze has created.
    Also, as others have suggested…we all bet that you are the reason for the problems you say you have experienced.
    I found the Wyze camera to be an amazing find for such a low price. I have several other security cameras (both inside and outside) that work quite well, but cost as much as 10 times more and don’t do anything better than this Wyze camera. The app works well, the camera’s picture quality is great, and the ability to use IFTTT to turn motion on or off when I’m out or home is great too.
    And lastly, as a 72-year-old, I found the setup to be quite easy.
    I hope when you grow up you will be more tolerant and not such an angry individual.

    I see they blocked reviews on Amazon, so let me tell you about this garbage here. It worked perfectly until I actually needed it. Then It needed a firmware upgrade and the upgrade bricked it. I can’t reflash based on their instructions, I can’t do a factory reset, it’s too light to be a paperweight. So I spent hours last night trying to fix this overpriced crap and today I get to go tell my boss that I failed to do what i told him should be a 5 minute process. I’m pissed off. I don’t want an appology, that would make me more upset at this point, I don’t want my money back. I want them to put a troubleshooting video that is above the level of some random moron reading the directions outloud and for them to admit their firmware is screwing up equipment. They are not going to do that and this isn’t worth suing over, so I will settle for just spending a few days ranting about how this crap would be overpriced if sold out of a gumball machine for a quarter. So far the cheap camera has cost me about 4 hours at $65/hr. Don’t make the mistake I made, buy anything else.

    For the price, these cameras are far better than others I’ve tried that are higher priced. They have a nice wide view and a clear picture in the daytime. I have told many people to purchase these because I feel for the price this is the best camera on the market. I really wish they made outdoor versions. My only complaints are:
    *The app can be buggy. Sometimes I have to shut down and re-start several times for it to work, and sometimes the cameras go through several cycles
    before I can see live video, even though my router is 3 feet away.
    *The night vision needs improvement, you can’t see very far (or behind glass, but I imagine that is the same with all cameras).
    *They seem to miss action (such as cars) in the action zone I’ve set. So if someone sideswipes my car if it is in the corner of the screen the camera may not turn on.
    Overall, a great camera for the price. I hope they make improvements on the app. I hate when it doesn’t connect when I am away from home. I know it isn’t my internet since I have fiber.

    This camera is hands down the absolute best camera you can buy in this price range. Picture quality is superb. The night vision is also very good and provides a quality image out to around 25 feet or so. The setup is the easiest that I have ever experienced with any electronic device and was completed in less than 10 minutes. The base is magnetic and will mount virtually anywhere with the included metal mount. I bought one of these for under my carport. I was so impressed I got another for the front porch. Now, the third one is on the way to replace the Canary, inside on top of the refrigerator. The app. is very easy to use and shows all cameras when opened. You get 14 days icloud storage for free but that only stores the notifications that were recorded when movement was sensed. These are quite short so be sure to add a Class 10 micro SD Card. With this you can set it for continuous recording. You still get the 10 second recorded notifications (recorded to iCloud) along with a constant recording that you go back to and view more of the recording. I believe you can hold around 2 days of constant video on a 32 gb memory card, which overwrites itself when full. Of course the app (either on my Android phone or my IPad) will provide you with a constant live feed or a way to check your motion sensored notifications. If this camera has any shortcomings, it would be this, the motion activation. Even on its least sensitive setting, things like bugs flying past or light flashes from lightning or simple wind movement will trigger a notification and record the event. You can minimize this somewhat by choosing an area in the image (adjustable large or small) that must be triggered by the motion) but even so I usually get a dozen or so notifications throughout a 24 hour period (mostly after dark) that are simply triggered by nature and her friends. For this reason I have the Audio Alerts turned off. Did I mention you can record audio too. I haven’t used the 2 way audio as yet so I can’t comment on that. There are more features with this tiny camera that I haven’t mentioned or even used but for $25 bucks you won’t find a better one. If your planning an installation other than something simple indoors near a power outlet, I would recommend that you order the 25 foot power cord. The included 6 foot cord will not be long enough for most outdoor installations.

    We already had a couple of different cameras in the house and bought a Wyze cam when they first came out. I thought, what the heck it’s only $20. But what a surprise!!!! It has a better picture than my $100 camera and was easier to install and operate.

    As the other cameras have started to have issues, the wyze cam just keeps going. I have recommended the Wyze cam to family and friend and they love them too.

    In fact, I just bought 2 more!!!!

    Ridiculously good home security cameras with no fees beyond the initial cost of admission. Probably the best $30 you could spend. After ordering three to give it a god, I ordered 7 more. Also makes a great gift, since you’re not sticking anyone with any monthly/annual subscription costs. They also continue to update the software, etc. The value continues to wow me, and the experience continues to improve. New fan, and brand advocate. Keep it up, Wyze!

    Nothing short of impressive.. It does quite a bit, is extremely well built, engineered, and is packed with features. low ratings , 2 or 1 star, are 100% user issues.. Not understanding other than ” it should be able to read my mind”
    If you don’t know how to use the thing, try watching some of the videos or doing a little research before you bad mouth it.
    We are talking price point to build quality against the features you get.. It is an amazing device, and does not need 5 ghz. ( do you really know the difference other than one is more? ” but.. this one goes to 11″ )

    I feel guilty for getting it for such a low price almost.. almost..
    Honestly would expect to pay much more.
    The device is impressive..
    I have ordered the Pan version and have nothing but great expectations..

    As a cheapskate technophile, I’ve come to the sad realization that there are very few well designed groundbreaking products that aggressively compete on price. This is one of those rare products! I’ve watched friends decorate their houses with Nestcams and Rings and Arlos, with some envy. Although I could afford these pricier options, I never felt right parting with the amount of money they demanded, particularly the pricey subscription models. Enter WyzeCam. At $20 (and no subscription), it truly was a spontaneous purchase. My same friends with the expensive cameras were impressed with the app & video quality, not just in relation to the cost, but in relation to their own cameras.
    I have 2 WyzeCams and hope to purchase 2 more in the near future. My ultimate hope is that this new company expands to cover dozens of connected devices with highly-affordable yet well-designed alternatives to what currently exist on the market.

    I previously had a $100+ Foscam installed at my summer home and I had to manually check in from time to time to see what was going on. I replaced it with this camera and had better quality pictures and a wide array of alerts; from various sounds to motion, which alerted me on my phone. I absolutely recommend this camera!

    I have been using the Wyze Cam v2 for a little over a month and I am very pleased with it. Setup was simple and quick. It covers the range I want covered and the videos are clear. My only concern is that sometimes after turning motion alert on, it somehow turns itself off without me knowing, so of course I do not receive push notifications. (Not sure why this happens.) Overall it is a great camera that I highly recommend.

    Very easy to set up and mount. I bought two and would like to buy more. I’m going to try setting up a usb power bank as a battery back up. And for the people that don’t understand, These use a micro USB for power and comes with a wall adapter. Exactly the same as a phone charger.

    Let me add my accolades to the WyzeCam. I have several security cameras….well more than several: I have 5 Blink cameras, including 3 outdoor and 2 indoor….and an older Dropcam Pro (yes, I know I have a problem). I bought 1 Wyzecam to see what all the fuss was about this $25 camera. I was so impressed that 2 weeks later I ordered 2 more, all directly from Wyze. Having an SD card with this camera really makes it a potent security camera. All ip security cameras have problems with false alerts, but with a movable, sizable motion detection zone and sensitivity control, you can eliminate most false alerts with the Wyzecam. I wish my outside Blink cameras had this feature. The 1080p resolution is clear and bright, if a little jerky because of the 15 fps recording speed. 24/7 recording with the SD card puts this on par with my Nest Cam….but no monthly fee and it doesn’t eat up my ISP monthly data limit. And they keep adding features and improving the software. You can’t beat this $25 camera with a stick! Like many others….would love to have an outdoor version. As a retired Law Enforcement Officer, it takes alot to impress me………Wyze, I stand impressed.

    I received my three Wyzecams a few days ago. I have been researching wifi cameras for several weeks, shopped around, and believe you are getting a lot of horsepower for the money. HD, 2-way audio, night vision, cloud storage for free, alerts for motion (with sensitivity settings), sound, smoke and CO alarm alerts, all in a $20 cube is quite remarkable. The phone app is simple, intuitive, and puts everything you need at your fingertips. Setup is very simple. I do wish there was a Wyzecam for outdoor use. You can shoot through a window, but it needs to be outside to see at night.

    Super easy to set up – even in my home network with a corporate grade firewall! It just works!
    The mobile app for Android is clean, simple, and intuitive. Sharing camera access with other household members was a breeze. So impressed i just placed another order.
    Video quality is superb, even in the dark (night vision). Sound and motion detection options help fine tune the right level of alerts.
    No additional cost to keep alert history and receive alerts. For continuous recording, installing a 32gb mini sd card was simple, and its recordings can be accessed through the mobile app.
    Sound quality is not great, but sufficient. Only rated with 4 stars because one of the cameras seems to have a defective speaker which makes sound distinctly distorted and crackled when compared with the other camera (both purchased, received, and installed at the same time)- opened ticket #48886 on 5/15 and have not yet received a response.
    Overall very happy with the product, its features and value for the price paid. Satisfaction with support is TBD at this time.
    Can’t wait for your outdoor camera product!

    I now have 10 of these around my house. Best money I have spent. I have used the Arlo Pro and Canary, both have had issue after issue. These little things work right out of the box, have just as many features (except that the Arlo can go outside) and work so much better. It takes forever to connect to my Arlo cameras, and when I do they are glitchy. These connect quickly, provide smooth video, and work so well. I just purchased a bunch of micro SD for continuous recording.

    Some folks have stated that they would like to be able to view the camera on a Windows based laptop or desktop. To accomplish this, download an Android emulator for Windows to your PC and install it. I use BlueStacks. You’ll then need to install the Wyze app from the Play Store. Then, log-in using the same user ID and password that you have on your Andriod phone. Easy Peasy! Even though it is a bit slow to load and uses about 600mb of physical RAM, I have found that it provides full functionality.

    This is a great camera for the money. However, the motion sensing technology is a joke in my opinion or it could be the unit that I purchased. The motion sensing algorithm seems to be based upon reflectivity when using IR at night: it detects white moths every time at distances from inches to 10 feet away from the camera while it completely misses the dark colored moths at any distance in addition to missing the dark colored raccoons that are 5-10 feet away. A small mostly white dog that occasionally visits at night is always detected up to 20 feet away. This detection algorithm causes the majority

    If this is the case, could the software engineers make some improvements? If so, you’d have the entire market cornered.

    Video quality is astonishing good considering its $20 price tag. It slow fps though. I think 10fps. Good enough for a security cam.(don’t use this as a dash cam)

    Audio quality is trash. Very bad. Weak, muffled, No clarity.

    I randomly but frequently, keep having issues loading the live stream of each camera. The app says “Connecting camera by secure channel (1/3)” Does it for both cams randomly. Most often, one cam will load fine, the other won’t. and visa versa.

    Wait a few minutes and try again, it loads fine.

    I was able to install a SanDisk 64GB micro sd (fat32) in to them fine. It beeps when it detects the card. Format the card in the cam, via the app is a good idea too.

    The motion clips to the cloud are only 12secs long with a 5 min “cool down”. Meaning, it will only post 12sec long vids every 5 min. Only way u can see what happened in that time gap, is to have a MicroSD card installed and set for 24/7 record, then u must review that footage via “Playback” option. The time seek bar does not show any indication as to a motion even trigger, so u must seek manually to that time.

    I tested the Smoke Alarm sound detection by playing a video of such sound effect loudly on a portable BT speaker. It took about 2 min, but my phone did get a notification.

    I purchased 2 of these from Wyzecam site directly. Took forever to receive them since they use UPS Mail Innovations.

    For $20 each (+$5 each for shipping)…Better than expected. These replaced some old 360p Dlink cams I found at a thrift store a few years ago.

    I have ordered my forth camera just now. Gave #2 to my son for college room security and #3 to daughter as house warming gift. I continue to be impressed with performance. I have seen a few areas where a 12 sec record is not enough but do I really expect more for the price. Just before this I bought a amcrest security NVR system. Spent $350 plus and this thing bets in hands down. I have 4 different camera for that system and each had totally different setups and sw but Wyze setup beats them all. If they get OnVIF support that would be great but I would want it to dual stream because I would hate to lose features. 2 were the same vendor but setup was different! enough about the competition.
    I should say how I am using it and tell a story. I have mine outside under my porch, shame on me, which is not recommend for current design but I am risking it. I had a motorcycle pull up and got the alert while out of town. It was my daughters bf and so we jumped to the live mode. when he arrived to the door we greeted him via the 2 way audio and then proceed to advise him to wait. We continued the conversation for several minutes. My other system has 2 way audio camera that doesn’t work with a beans! Since I shared my camera with my wife gmail address, she can sign up for account and access the same alerts and everything! so both our phones get the alerts. far less alerts then the system. I also caught the running fedex drop, ding dong and run video footage and shared the humor via text message to friends and family! The ease of setup and use is better than an Iphone!!! I will expect to purchase more, recommend and hope that v3 will be outside, ptz and even better!

    I’ve had Nest Cams (including the original Drop Cam) for years, and I really liked them. Always wanted to add more, but the $190 price tag was kind of steep, and the monthly cloud storage charge really adds up as you add cameras. Then I saw a YouTube review/comparison of the Nest Cam vs. the WyzeCam. I thought “For $20 why not try the WyzeCam? If it sucks, I’m only out $20”. I did NOT suck!! I am totally and completely sold on these cameras. There is nothing, I mean NOTHING, that the Nest Cam gives me over the WyzeCam. And for less than half the price of a new Nest Cam I just added 3 more WyzeCams. The video quality is superb, and by adding a $13 SD card, I have cloud playback (highly recommend the “Record events only” setting. I don’t know how you guys do it, but please don’t stop! The WyzeCam is the best tech product I’ve ever invested in!!

    I have had two for a month or so, and just ordered two more. Easy to set up, with a very clear picture. Working with the beta version now and it is an immense improvement. It takes some thought to set up the location for the camera, and here are a few things I have noticed. Flaring sunlight through a tree will cause an alert even with low sensitivity. Not a problem, just saying. I need to relocate my front door camera to face away from the west. This camera looks out a bay window at an angle. Reflection is not a problem during the day, but it really picks it up at night. The reflection looks through the dining room door into the kitchen. Caught my wife raiding the fridge a time or two in the reflection. The back door cam looks out to a wooded area, and the camera will alert at high sensitivity to the leaves moving in the wind. Lowering the sensitivity fixed that. I’m probably going to use these mostly when I am not at home. We seem to have a big problem with thieves stealing packages off the porch in my neighborhood. We have a pretty good idea of who is doing it, but they have not been caught, yet. Maybe WYZE could come up with a window sticker “Property Watched by WYZECAM” or something.

    Haven’t caught my cats yet. They must sleep all the time.

    I have three of the V2 versions of the WYZE camera and they simply rock! Easy install once I read the instructions. All my current ones are installed inside, looking out a window onto a well lit patio. I disabled the night vision and the result blows away my other exterior-mounted cameras.
    In regards to the iPhone app, it has worked flawlessly.
    Nice thing about the size of the cameras is that they fit in window frames between the window and the shades nicely. These augment my external cameras very nicely. In fact if I had these first, I’d have spent less time crawling in my attic wiring the other cameras and managing the pesky DVR.
    All five thumbs up on these! (and I paid and waited for mine).

    Love this camera. I have two, one of them is mounted on the inside of my kitchen window looking out over my front deck. The other day someone came up on my deck and knocked at the door, we were not home and when we didn’t answer the person stole some items off our deck. When we got home we obviously noticed the missing items and went right to the camera to review the video. We had a clear video of the person’s face as well as his car parked in our driveway. We contacted the police, were able to allow them to review the video right from my phone. We then removed the SD card, made a copy for the police and within 4 hours of the incident the person was located and when the tape was presented to the suspect he immediately confessed. Because of the versatility in mounting and the crisp picture quality of this camera we were able to not only see what happened but easily provide the police with the information they needed to apprehend the thief in record time. Thank you for making a high quality product at an amazing price. I’m buying two more!

    For $20? FREAKING AWESOME. I’d love to be able to use my windows workstation while at work, so I don’t have to rely on the iphone. Reason being I have poor reception in the building and it has difficulty connecting to some of the cameras, though I do see the alerts and can review them easily since they’re on a server and not streaming from my home network. When I’m in the house, no issues at all connecting to any camera. With great wifi or 4g, I can connect most of the time to most of the cameras. Sometimes it gets to part 3/3 of the connection and can’t seem to acquire the video signal.

    Also noticed that if I put a camera between my wifi access point and another camera… the camera closer causes issues with the further camera connecting. Like it’s blocking/intercepting the wifi somehow. I know wifi doesn’t work like that, but whenever I move the further camera so it’s not in the same path to the router… it works fine. So I have to blame the camera in between :)

    I’d rather have SELECTABLE motion zones, over some silly green box that is actually an annoyance (can we shut that feature off?). If the camera is setting a motion alert… I’m smart enough to look for something that moved on my own, thank you. Don’t need a bright obtrusive, disruptive green box that wiggles and moves and changes shape as it follows the trigger object. And if I don’t see anything that caused the motion alert? Guess what, I can change the sensitivity…

    When it works (which is 95% of the time for me), the video is AWESOME. The motion detection is AWESOME. The alerts are AWESOME. The cloud and SD recording are AWESOME. The ability to listen and speak is AWESOME, even with the delay and poor v1 acoustics.

    So despite the quirks and hiccups… for $20? This camera is FREAKING AWESOME.

    What would make it beyond belief? Give it an ethernet plug (if it will fit somewhere) so I can use PoE instead of being tethered to outlets and extension cords :) And since that will connect it to my LAN, that opens up many other DVR and interface possibilities….

    I just tried using this in my car as a forward facing cam. I drove from Colorado to California and it recorded the entire trip. 24hours straight. Good quality. I just wish I could select/fix the focus, due to bugs, debris, rain etc. All in all it’s been a good cam. The software updates seem to have fixed issues the last few months, so that a plus. A little add-on magnetic pan and tilt would be a real slick addition for indoor. How about a front/rear cam all-in-one for cars? Front for forward of vehicle and rear for in cabin.

    Just had some health problems in our family. Washer/dryer are in basement. Washer does not always finish when it says it will. Down and up stairs to check can be a problem. Saw article from PopSci about this camera. Got one, setup was extremely smooth. Android device. Mounted camera about 7 feet up and 8 feet away from washer/dryer. Didn’t notice at first that i was using night vision. i can see washer panel better in dark, dryer panel requires light. As part of solution for health problems, got Echo Dot 2. We now have 4 ED2s. Lots of smart plugs. Alexa turns on light to see dryer. Just ran across this website today. Read about V2. Bought 3. May buy another. I don’t think i mentioned, V1 is probably the best $20 I’ve ever spent ( i am 71, think about it… ). Can’t think of any problems. I am sure that even though i don’t have any problems, they will still keep improving the product…

    I have been using Wazecam for past few months. I had to reach the support team twice as the camera stopped working after software upgrade. I have both motion and CD and smoke alert set but it sometime sends false alerts. App does not allow set alert only certain days. Also quality of video is not great. With all the issue it is a good buy for the price. I hope all the bugs can be fixed and they Waze will introduce wire free indoor/outdoor camera for all weather conditions

    This is a simple review of the Wyzecam v2. I was invited to test the device, with it provided free of charge. How did I get invited? Purchased a v1, joined the reddit group, and signed up when they put up a post requesting for beta testers.

    This is a honest review, and you can decide that by reading.


    Packaging is identical to the v1, a small rectangular box containing the camera, a long flat micro usb cable, and a wall attachment kit consisting of a metal disc and 3M double sided tape.

    Camera is identical to v1, except for a matte coating, which supposedly eliminates reflections. Honestly, I personally don’t see this as a marketing point – indoors, this isn’t a factor. Outdoors, this camera isn’t made for the purpose. Maybe someone can explain to me how it makes a significant difference.

    Reset button, micro sd slot, all the usual culprits are there. The hinges of the stand is quite a bit stiffer compared to v1, which would result in the camera angle changing due to cable movement. Less of that here, but it isn’t completely eliminated. My solution is to put a wall cable holder near to the camera so that and cable movements doesn’t affect the angle.


    Exactly the same as v1. You install the Wyze app on your Android or iOS devices, press a button on the camera base, then show the camera a QR code on your app display. Voila!

    The speaker is significantly louder, so don’t do the setup if there are people sleeping – I did it in the living room while my daughter was having a nap in the bedroom, and it woke her. Options in the app are simple enough, no obvious portion that the average user could get lost in.

    Installing is really easy. Most cameras don’t come with a method to mount that uses something as simple as magnets, because most of them are too heavy.


    As a cheap surveillance cam it’s more than decent. Images are clear day or night. Speaker is loud enough for voice communication, the caveat being the half to 1 sec delay. The mic is ok-ish, gotta be closer to be useful – you won’t be listening to anyone across the room.

    I’ve had cameras double the price that gave me more headaches than this. For what I got for 20 bucks, it’s an excellent package of hardware, software and basic cloud storage. But no product is perfect, and with that I’ll lead into the cons. I’ll not list cons that I feel shouldn’t be part of a $20 product – some features require better and more expensive hardware/software. 20 dollars can and should only go so far.


    Don’t rely on the sound, smoke and CO “detection” as shown in the options. There are no such sensors built in, everything is software interpolation – the main bread and butter is the camera. Use that as it’s sore purpose.

    The notifications and cloud storage – when it works they’re decent. I’ve had certain missing notifications during the test period, where the video snippets are uploaded fine, but I didn’t receive any notifications. And the 12 seconds limit isn’t always helpful, as it’s too short in some situations. Imho a micro sd is a must – set it to continuous recording, and use the cloud snippets as a supplement to enable you to find out when the movements took place. Apparently marking out the occurrences on the timeline is in the pipeline, but until then it’s a manual job.

    My v1 cam has been chugging along since I received it, no downtime, no disconnections. However on the v2, I’ve had it require a power cycle one time when it was daisy chained to the v1. Whether it was due to the beta, or because of the daisy chain, it was hard to determine, because it never happened after that. Currently it’s setup right beside my 3D printer, in an enclosure for nearly a week, still going strong.

    Since sector based motion detection is going to be possible on this hardware (imho given what I’ve gleaned about it from forums and hearsay in regards to it’s close sibling, the Xiaomi Xiaofang), RTSP output will be good. While there is a workaround using Tinycam monitor (an excellent Android app), there is no equivalent on other platforms – no, using an Android emulator on desktop doesn’t count.

    Final thoughts

    Unless you already have better hardware around the house, this is a no brainer, especially considering the price. V1 was a great value proposition, and V2 improves on some of the shortcoming with no pricing changes. Wyze, do consider selling it in other parts of the world as well, you’ll make a killing.

    I own 2 WyzeCam v1 and ordered the second generation camera today. The camera is solid and the folks behind seem to be very good.
    I had an issue with one of my cameras. I opened a ticket via the WyzeCam app, the customer support responded before end of the day. After couple of email exchanges & testing the camera using a 3rd party app recommended by the customer support rep, they decided to mail me a replacement. No hazzle at all. Wish we had more such customer support representatives in other companies as well.

    I love these Cameras.. I own four… Recently I ended up with a few extra animals making a total of 5.. (I know I am crazy) One of the animals was getting into trouble while we were gone. I wanted to find a solution to figure out which animal was causing the behavior so we could change the set up of the day. With these camera’s we were able to figure it out, and are able to keep the one animal in one room while we are gone, and the trouble has stopped.
    I now have peace of mind during the day that if there any problems I’ll be alerted… and now we can keep our eyes on packages too!

    The only thing I wish to see improve is maybe a longer cord, so I can move the camera different, and better adhesive tape. Maybe something like Command hook time tape, that can be moved, with out ripping the paint off your walls. I’ve had 2 cameras that needed to be moved after finding it wasn’t hitting the area we were wanting too, and both of them have ripped huge chunks of paint off my walls, and the sticker part is no longer usable, and you are left with a metal ring you have to figure out how to remount and walls that need to be painted.. :( But those are little details the camera its self is amazing and well worth the money.

    Home security made easy!

    Here are my thoughts on the V2 of the amazing Wyze Cam:

    Build Quality/Appearance:
    This is a solid little device! The body screams quality, and is very well built. The casing is a matte white finish (v1 was shiny) and is visually pleasing. The base expands, contracts, and swivels smoothly, it stays in position without any issue. The magnet in the base is very strong, and works incredibly well with the metal mounting plate included. Work great outside as long as you have it protected (I tested mine out under an eave), dropped down to about 28 degrees Fahrenheit, and there were no issues.

    The camera produces a very clear picture with great detail. Speaker is loud and clear (nothing was garbled). I was able to use a 64 GB micro SD card without issue. Night vision works great as long as you do not have it placed in a window (most windows will reflect the infrared LEDs).

    Motion Tagging! This is the real star of the show. With v1, you were never really sure why you were alerted, with the tagging feature, you get a green box around where the motion was detected. The time lapse feature is handy if you want to watch something happing in double time (my case it was watching one of my trees getting cut down). The app is easy to use and show quite a bit of refinement (I’m using the Android version).

    Room for improvement:
    It would be nice to have a longer USB cord included, but this is a minor gripe. I would also like to see Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) supported, so you could save locally to network-attached storage (NAS) or network video recorder (NVR). It would be nice to be able to archive video for longer than the free, 14-Days of rolling cloud storage that is provided.

    For $20 this is a no-brainer! I will be purchasing more to cover all of the outside of my house. I look forward to seeing what features and new products Wyze Cam brings!

    The WyzeCam iOS app requires a minimum of iOS 8.0 (or higher.)

    I can’t recommend an Android phone, but if you have a Windows box, many folks have successfully gotten the Android version of the WyzeCam app to run in an Android emulator in Windows. You would need to borrow a friend’s Android smartphone to initially set up the cam. It should work fine after that from the PC.

    If it requires above iOS v7, can anyone recommend a cheap dumb Android device to buy solely to run the application?

    Or does it run on either a Windows or Mac computer?

    My needs for a videocam are pretty simple. I don’t need one to watch over property, a storage space or even a garage. I live in a studio apt in Seattle by myself and I originally had a DropCam. I have replaced the DC with two v1 WyzeCams. They each have a 32 GB microSD card. I have now replaced one of the v1 WCs with the v2 WC.

    My 2 cams are for my own protection. One monitors my front entry and the other takes a long shot across my apt. They provide proof for the police of any activity that takes place in my apt if I ever need it. I previously had a situation where someone visiting my apt stole something and the police said that I didn’t have proof of the theft, so it was my word against the thief’s. That won’t ever happen again.

    For my simple uses, there isn’t a great deal of difference between the v1 and the v2. The v2 has a little bit sharper image than the v1. Both cameras have well-lit locations for most of the day. They use IR about 9 hours at night when the lights are out for sleeping. In that situation, the v2 has a little sharper image. That may be because the v2 has 4 IR lights, whereas my v1 is the original and only has 2 IR lights.

    I have never had issues with either the v1 or the v2 with the original setup. I just have to remember that my Apple Express router has two bands and that my iPhone is usually on the 5 GHz band. So I need to downgrade the phone to the 2.4 GHz band before trying to setup WyzeCam.

    I haven’t had any issues as well with upgrading the firmware in either cam. Both have always alerted me to any firmware upgrade as soon as I chose one of the cams to view in the iOS app.

    I haven’t had any issues with recording the video to the microSD cards. The 32 GB cards give me about 3 days of surveillance before they begin recording over the oldest video.

    I don’t have alerts turned on right now because they would just be me moving around. But I did test them with both v1 and v2 for about an hour and they function as expected. One thing that I do like about the v2, is the green boxes that point out exactly where the movement is in the view that set off the alert.

    I do look forward to a couple of things that have been mentioned both here in Core Users and in our beta group. I hope to see the ability to turn the camera’s image 90° and 270° so that the cams can be hung on a wall. And I look forward to having the software geofenced so that the cams can be programmed to turn on alerts when I leave the geofence. They would then work as an alarm/security system.

    I bought 1 V1 2 months ago just to see for myself the quality of a $20 camera with free cloud, and to try it out for a few weeks before buying more. Wow, was I pleasently surprised, this comes from a guy looking for sometype of camera system to record a few doors for a long time, finding most of them confusing and reviews of low quality. These little cameras have great quality and even better reviews. This thing rocks in all areas for the price. Now that it past my test, I am ready to buy more, and I am thrilled that there is an updated version. I hope for two things, 1) Wyze comes out with a WATERPROOF outdoor version one day, and 2) they bring their (this) company “public” on the stock exchange and offer us an IPO price! ! !

    I was given the opportunity to beta test the v2 of the WyzeCam. Upon receiving it, setup with a breeze, I was up and running in a few minutes! The video quality of the V2 over the V1 is really nice. The v2 performs much better in low light conditions and even in night mode in a completely dark room. I put my v2 right next to my v1 to compare the same scene.

    New to the v2 is the motion tracking, which is really great when the camera is in a low light situation, the camera identifies any movement and draws a green box around the area in real time, my expensive home surveillance camera system doesn’t even do this!

    I love the clarity of the v2, even the time stamp is cleaner and more crisp. I have a 32GB memory card in my v2 and had it set to continuous recording. Playback is smooth and available in the app with a quick tap on the “playback” tab.

    The design of the camera itself is almost identical to the v1 with the exception of the matte finish on the v2 over the glossy finish of the v1. The magnetic base is a genius idea and makes it easy to mount to metal surfaces. It even comes with an adhesive metal disk that you can apply anywhere for easy mounting! This allows for easy removal of the camera if you want to move it to another location or access the memory card slot. The adjustability of the camera’s swivel and tilt motions are smooth as butter yet firm so it stays where you angle it.

    I especially love how it has a speaker and a mic so you can communicate with anyone in the room where the camera is mounted.

    Firmware updates are easily done in the app and take just a few seconds. I’ve even updated the firmware from my phone when I wasn’t home over my Phones LTE connection and had zero issues!

    In the app, the notification timeline is really great as i can see what type of notification, the time and a video clip all organized chronologically for easy access.

    Overall, for the price point and quality and feature set of this camera, its really a no brainer! Small, easy to configure and set up, simple to mount, USB powered so you don’t have any proprietary AC adapter to worry about, its a great way to add surveillance to your home or office at a ridiculously cheap price.

    The WyzeCam is worth a lot more than they cost, whether its an impulse buy or even as a gift idea, this is a great little camera that packs ALOT of features, and the v2 enhancements only add to that value!

    I was also a tester but own several V1 cameras. I look for simplicity, ease of use, and a good app. This version of camera and app checks all three boxes. On a small screen, the motion tagging makes it easy to see where movement is occurring. I also used a 128 SD card without issue. Great product at an unbeatable price.

    I was fortunate to be able to help beta test the new V2 version of the Wyzecam, and I own several of the V1 camera’s as well. I also have several high end camera’s costing over $100 each.

    I first got my V1 camera’s about 6-8 weeks ago just to see what a $20 camera could do compared to my other high end camera’s. I wasn’t sure what to expect. But I have to say I was impressed right away with what I found – and now they have improved the camera with better 2 way audio, better night vision, a new camera sensor, and less shinny matte finish. And it’s still only $20! I’m seriously considering dropping all my $100+ camera’s and replacing them with Wyzecam’s. At this price I can afford to put them wherever I want one!

    What do I like about the Wyzecam?
    1) Easy of set up (didn’t even need the ‘quick start guide.) This was so much easier than the other camera’s I’ve had. While there is no written manual there are online video tutorials if you want to better understand all it’s features.
    2) Mounting options. It comes with a plate you can attach to any flat surface, and the camera magnetically attaches to that. Very easy and flexible.
    3) Ease of use. Log into the app, click on the camera, and there you have the live stream video. And you can set it up to alert you to motion of sound.
    4) Continuous recording, or record on motion, to a micro SD card (not included with the camera.) That allows you to access and ‘playback’ all recorded video via the app (and take snapshots during playback as well.) I’d highly recommend getting a micro SD card for your camera!
    5) The audio (on V2) and picture quality is comparable to my high end cameras. It maybe even better!
    6) Time lapse recording feature! Set a start and end time and record hours of time lapse video.
    7) I can install the app on several devices (iPhone, iPad, android device) and access my camera’s from all of them.
    8) Sharing – I can share one or more of my camera’s with other people (family / friends etc.) as needed. All they need is the app installed and to create an account.

    So if you are looking for a camera that provides excellent value, and is easy to use, this is the camera for you.

    That said there are a few things the company is working on improving like the sensitivity control for motion tracking. I have a lot of trees outside my home and branches blowing in the wind can set it off (would not be an issue for indoor use or where there are no trees.) And the alerts on Android devices are intermittent (they work fine on iOS devices.) Also it does not have pan and tilt like my other high end camera’s but it turns out I never use that anyway! A web interface would also be nice. But I’m confident they will find solutions to these over time, and they have already issued several firmware and app updates as they continually improve the features / functionality.

    So, for $20, this is an excellent choice for someone just wanting to try a home camera, or for someone how wants a lower price option to the other camera’s out there, and the features you do get at this price point are outstanding.

    Most of you are here because you most likely are the proud owners of the WyzeCam V1. Others are here because someone who owns a WyzeCam couldn’t stop talking about it and told you how awesome the cam is. The WyzeCam blows away the competition. The cam is high quality, high definition and has many features cams 4x more the cost don’t have at an unbelievable low, affordable price.

    Wyze Labs is an aggressive company. The type of company that believes “high quality, easy-to-use smart home products shouldn’t break the bank”. With that, they have introduced the Wyzecam V2! This cam looks almost identical to the WyzeCam V1. WyzeCam V2 has a matte white finish, better, clearer image, superior night vision, motion tagging and better sound quality plus more. Does it cost more than the WyzeCam V1? Nope! Same price and very affordable.

    I know what you are thinking…. I just ordered and/or received my WyzeCam V1. Stand tall and remember you still purchased a superior high quality product! As with all technology, the products keep getting better and at a quick pace. What you buy today is all ready out of date tomorrow.

    I can’t wait to see what else Wyze Labs has up their sleeve!

    My home is pretty wired with security cameras already… I have multiple security cameras with Xfinity Home as well as a Ring Pro doorbell. But all of these cost between $200 and $300, and on top of that they charge a monthly or annual fee for motion-activated cloud recording per camera. So when I read a New York Times article about a Seattle startup that was shipping HD cameras for $20 with 2-way voice and free cloud recording, I bought a few. For the cost of a few Starbucks lattes, I had my first WyzeCam. The camera was incredibly easy to set up with my iPhone. The video quality was better than my Xfinity Home cameras. The cameras also include 2-way audio, which my Xfinity cameras don’t. And if you add a MicroSD card, you can record continuous video and time lapse video. I quickly bought more, as I realized I could cover my house for half the cost of a single camera from the competition with no monthly fee.

    The V2 cam has many of the same features (there are a few more goodies added), just upgraded. Video is still 1080p HD, but it’s sharper and the 2-way audio is better. Overall, the v2 cam has been rock solid for me. You can tell that Wyze is really invested in improving things — the app is updated regularly and so is the firmware of the camera, adding new features and capabilities.

    You can’t beat the price for performance here.

    Having owned 3 original V1 Wyzecams for over a month and absolutely loving them, I was fortunate enough to receive a V2 cam for testing. Before I received the V2, I was asking myself…how much better can V2 really be? Well, my curiosity has been answered with the testing I’ve done for the past week.

    Although the packaging was exactly the same, as soon as I opened it, I appreciated the new matte case. With V1, there was some reflection I was experiencing with the glossy finish. The new matte finish certainly solves that issue.

    From a setup standpoint, V2 is just as easy as V1 if not faster due to faster recognition of the QR code and it seemed to connect to my network faster as well. Upgrades to the latest firmware went off without a hitch.

    From a usage standpoint, the image quality during the day and in night mode were clearer and sharper than V1. Audio was improved as well where I could hear my spouse mumbling to herself about the kids several feet away from the cam.

    The best new feature is the motion tagging where there is an outline box that tracks what is moving. This is a great feature and with a recent update during the testing period, we have the ability to turn that on or off depending on your preference.

    I’m impressed with all the improvements, but the incredible thing is that the cam is staying at the same great price of $20. Although the V1 cams are great, I think I’m going to give mine up to family members and replace them with V2 cams.

    Keep up the great work Wyzecam team and looking forward to what other products you might have in the pipeline. You certainly have a customer for life and an evangelist for your product.

    If you are looking for a low cost and high value solution for video monitoring, this is the camera for you. The camera itself is made with quality materials and components. The camera produces a sharp and clear image. The low light images are easy to see as well. Another big advantage is the lack of needing a paid subscription plan to benefit from the cloud based monitoring alerts. In the camera administration app, an image from each camera is shown and is the access to the live feed for that camera. One thing to be aware of with the low light view, it does not work through windows. So a camera on the inside looking outside through a window will not work in low light, but works fine in daylight or if the outside is lit up. Suggestions for improvement in the admin app would be a button that would get fresh images for each camera and the ability to reorder and group/categorize the camera images.

    I was lucky enough to be selected to beta test the v2, and was pleasantly surprised.

    The v2 come is a more matte white shell (not glossy). I like this look better. I think it better blends in and will likely reflect less for those putting their camera behind a window.
    Other than that it looks just the same as the v1. Same packaging and accessories too!

    There are 4 “night vision LEDs” (this may not be new to all v1s, but mine only have 2). This does produce more clear night vision for me.
    New speaker! Although I thought the original was sufficient, this is a noticable improvement. Audio is much louder & also more clear.

    The beta looks and feels like the release version, with a few minor tweaks. 2 cool new features we’re the ability to record snapshots from your Playback tab & reformat your class card from within the app.
    Setup process was equally easy & painless as my v1 cameras.

    Video/Image Quality
    I think the v2 cam has a slightly more crisp video. Edges and items at a distance look more clear. But I think the colors are a little less accurate. If you’re familiar with a “vivid” mode, v2 is more similar to that.
    As I noted above, night vision is also improved.
    They also added a new Motion Tagging feature you can turn on that outlines what motion the camera is detecting. I thought this was cool, my wife was not impressed, lol. In retrospect, may not be too useful, but again, I was a fan.

    I do have 1 issue with the Notification video playback playing in “fast forward”. The clip would say 15 seconds, would contain 15 seconds of time, but would finish in 10 seconds. But Wyze is aware of that and is working on it

    I’d buy a v2 cam over a v1. 😁
    Nothing super different, but just many minor improvements. You can tell Wyze is listening to us, and is working to be the best product on the market!

    WyzeCam Version 2 (V2) Hands On Review

    I was selected as a beta tester of the WyzeCam Version 2 (V2). Here is a review of my first experiences using the camera as compared to my 12 Version 1 Wyzecams.

    Unboxing and Setup

    The packaging and physical form factor of the V2 camera and accessories are essentially identical to V1. The most notable exception is that instead of being surrounded by clear cling film, the V2 is in a semitransparent plastic bag secured with tape. This is because the cling film does not adhere to the matte finish of the V2. It is slightly more difficult to remove than the cling film, but since it’s a one-time event, it is not a problem.

    The matte finish of the V2 is noticeably different than the glossy finish of the V1 when close to the camera. From a greater distance, the difference is not very apparent. Whether this finish is an improvement over the V1 is a matter of personal preference. The V2 will likely appear a little less obtrusive in a brightly lit space.

    Other than the matte finish, the V2 form factor is identical to the V1. The only other way to tell the difference between them externally is by the V2 labeling on the bottom of the camera. The power block and microSD cable are identical to the V1. Plugging the micro USB cable into the V2 for the first time was a little too snug. However, it loosened up nicely on the 2nd and 3rd attempts.

    Setup of my beta unit proceeded smoothly in the same manner as the V1. The unit required a firmware update out of the box (as did my V1s) and that update proceeded without problem. The microSD card slot in the beta unit was shipped in the engaged position. This meant that the microSD card had to be inserted, then removed and reinserted to get it to engage. Once that was done, it operated normally. The current firmware and iOS app are able to format the card while in the camera — a nice feature. Time sync from the iOS app to the camera was without problem. The setup voice on the V2 is quite loud due to the improved sound processor. You will get a lot of attention if you set it up in a quiet office.

    Image Quality

    As with the V1, I cannot readily discern any difference in image quality when zoomed in on a still scene in HD vs SD mode. The lower SD data rate is achieved not by a lower image resolution, but instead by a higher compression factor. Therefore, you will see differing compression artifacts when comparing the two modes. However, in my opinion, the overall image quality of HD is not really any better than SD.

    The timestamp imprint on the V2 image is dramatically more clear and clean than that of the V1. This makes it easy to identify image captures taken on the V2 vs the V1.

    My first comparison of image quality involved putting the V2 beta unit next to a V1 that points out to the street through a front window. I was expecting significant improvement from the V2 and in all honesty, I was a bit disappointed. The V2 image in this situation does not appear to be improved. When zoomed in on a small area, the image quality appears to be pretty similar with maybe a small advantage going to the V1.

    My next comparison involved putting the V1 and V2 side-by-side in a basement rec room. Here the V2 was the clear winner in image quality. The V2 image is more true-color and has clearly sharper features. When zoomed in on a small area, the V2 has clearly sharper edges and more detail.

    The V2 handles low light much better than the V1 and therefore automatic night vision switches on later, as it gets darker, with the V2. Once on, the night vision image on the V2 is clearly better than the V1.

    Conclusion: The V2 has greatly improved image quality in many, but not all, circumstances and settings.

    Sound Quality

    The sound quality of the V2 is vastly improved. It is both louder and more clear, both in transmission and reception.

    My first test was to play a voice program at normal listening volume on a TV about 12 feet from both cameras and listen to it on each camera version from another room. When listening via the V1, the spoken words took great concentration to understand and many words could not be heard clearly. When listening via the V2, the audio was much more clear, louder and with much less static in the background. The spoken words were easily understood without much effort.

    Next I compared the speakers of the two camera versions. The ultimate test is whether my dogs react to me calling them over the speaker of each camera. With the V1, there was no reaction from the dogs. Whether that is because the V1’s audio out is much quieter or because there is less frequency response, I do not know. But the dogs acted as if nothing was happening.

    When I called the dogs over the V2 speaker, their reaction was much different. They started looking all around trying to figure out where my voice was coming from. The audio output of the V2 is much louder although, to my ear, a bit more distorted. However, the dogs’ reaction tells it all – much more useful audio output.

    Motion Tagging:

    WyzeCam V2 supports tagging of motion observed by the camera. This is done by drawing a green box around areas that the camera considers to be motion in both live stream and playback. The feature can be turned on or off in the settings for each camera.

    I have found the motion tagging to be mostly just a novelty, although it is useful sometimes to know what the camera is “thinking” in terms of motion detection. The real benefit will be if Wzye is able to use this to eventually support masking of motion detection areas in the camera’s field of view.

    iOS Beta App

    The beta iOS app allows recording and pause/resume in playback. This was a much needed feature, enabling you to save video from the on-board microSD card without having to remove the card from the camera.

    The beta app allows formatting of the microSD card while still in the camera and the ability to turn on/off the timestamp watermark. Automatic screen rotation is supported, although only while watching live or playback video.

    Future Improvements Needed

    The WzyeCam V2 is a dramatic improvement over the already fantastic V1 model. The fact that Wyze has made these improvements and kept the price point at the same low $20 is terrific. Below is a list of hardware and software improvements that I think could make the product even better:

    Better form factor for the supplied power block: The current power block protrudes quite far from the wall with the USB cord protruding even further. It would be beneficial if the prongs on the power block were mounted at 90 degrees to their current orientation so that the block and USB cable would lie parallel to the wall.

    Holes in the base for screw mounting: While the magnetic mount and metal disk system is useful in some applications, the metal disk adhesive leaves a very large area of wall damage when removed. If there were a couple of small holes in the base, these could be used with small drywall anchors, leaving a much smaller area of damage when removed. I have drilled holes in the bases of some of my WyzyCams and mounted with small drywall anchors, and it works great.

    Motion detection masking: As mentioned above, it would be a nice feature to be able to mask out areas in the camera’s field of view to be ignored for motion detection. This could be used for areas such as a waving flag, or a TV screen, that trigger unwanted motion alerts.

    More camera thumbnails per screen: The current app only shows two large camera thumbnails on the home screen. There is a lot of scrolling to find the camera you want to view if you have many Wyzecams installed. The app should optionally allow up to 8 (smaller) thumbnails per screen to improve camera selection.

    Rearrange thumbnails: In addition showing more thumbnails on the app’s home screen, it is important to be able to rearrange the order of the thumbnails so that it is not dependent on the order that the cameras were set up. With 12 or more installed cameras, thumbnail organization is important.

    Thumbnail refresh: Pulldown on the home screen would not only refresh the camera list, but it could retrieve a current image from each camera. These updated images could be used to select which camera to view. It would be especially useful when the cameras are used as pet monitors. A further improvement would be to implement a very low frame rate (eg. 1 fps) constant refresh of all camera thumbnails, user switchable.

    Full rotation support: The app should support full automatic device rotation in all modes including the home screen, camera settings, notifications and account settings. This is especially important when using the app on a tablet that is sitting in a stand in landscape orientation.

    Overall Conclusion:

    The WyzeCam Version 2 camera is a worthwhile improvement over the V1. For those planning to increase their cadre of Wyzecams, you will be pleased. For those yet to purchase their first WyzeCam, it adds even more value to an already value-priced product.

    Investing in security was never so painless. This security camera gives you the opportunity to make a small investment and reap a huge reward. WyzeCam v2 will not disappoint you.
    The new white matte finish blends beautifully into my white satin window casings throughout my home. I love the idea of having a home security camera without it being obtrusive. WyzeCam v2 has the same great swivel base that v1 had, making it easy to install on or in various surfaces.
    The Motion Tagging that is included with this camera is very helpful. When watching the live feed, or reviewing notifications, your eye will be drawn to the easy to see green box that is showing where the motion is occurring.
    The clarity of the night vision was outstanding! Even without the night vision feature on, this camera picked up details in low light situations.
    The audio on the WyzeCam v2 is wonderful! This feature was a huge plus for this working mom, it’s awesome to be able to tell my children to have a great day as they are walking out the door to go to school. I also have the peace of mind that I can zoom in to make sure that the door is locked behind them.
    If you’re already a fan of the WyzeCam v1, you for sure will love the upgrades on the WyzeCam v2. If you do not yet own a WyzeCam, you will not be disappointed and the price point simply perfect!!!

    The Wyze Cam V1 took the tech world by storm, it was a game changer. How could so many features & functionality be packed into something so small, attractive, and for just $20?!? Well, the V2 takes that foundation and kicks it up a notch! Better image, better performance, flawless 2-way audio, new Motion Tagging, and a sexy new matte finish. Smart AND good looking? That’s the whole enchilada!

    OK, let me stop gushing and offer a bit more substance. The new Motion Tagging feature is really useful, allowing you to easily see what the cam is responding to so you can adjust sensitivity and/or aim to minimize false alarms. And you can toggle it off if you want after you get everything dialed in. The 2-way audio really is top-notch. I’ve used other cams costing 5x as much promising this functionality, but none have functioned as well as my Wyze V2.

    Finally, Wyze has been incredibly responsive to customer feedback, implementing new features, squashing rare bugs, and answering questions.     If you thought the v1 WyzeCam was nice, you’ll love the v2 WyzeCam. The upgraded CMOS sensor & audio power amplifier are a huge upgrade, the quality is much better! I also love the motion tagging feature that let you know what is causing the motion event. The new matter finish is a nice touch, it looks much better then the v1. I don’t know how they are able to sell these for only $20 for such a great product. I love how WyzeCam continues to improve & upgrade the hardware & software!

    I was glad version 2 kept all the great features of version 1, especially the price! The V2 unit fits right in among my V1 units, but only better performance.     Same awesome Security camera with even more enhanced features! There is a new Function called “Motion Tagging” and it is a darn good addition to the V2! Now when theres something moving on a video clip? I can see exactly what it is! I have the Version 1 as well, BUT the CMOS in this V2?? Seriously clear! The clarity and crisp images that this camera produce (V2) are sick! Lets just say, for $20?? You can cut something out of the equation to get one of these and still have your mind at ease! UNDERSTAND: The $20 that you spend to purchase this camera is not for a cheesy/cheaply made product…. The design aspects are *Apple* Like : Clean, Precise and darn right rock solid! So go ahead and make that $20 investment and you will feel the way I (And im sure others!) feel: $20 WELL SPENT!

    This new V2 matte finish is on point! It looks so much better on my mantle than the reflective of the V1. The NEW motion tagging of the V2 is exceptional. It allows me to see what trigger the motion alarms instead of guessing. I used a V1 as a baby monitor but the sound didn’t always pick up. My V2 audio playback and pick up ar both significantly better than the V1. The image quality is improved over the V1.

    Looking for a cost-effective way to keep an eye on your house? This is IT!!!!! I mean come on… how can you beat $20 for a WiFi connected camera with FREE cloud storage? It’s like $20 for a cup of coffee at Starbucks, this is a STEAL! With Motion, Sound, CO and Smoke alerts I’d like to see someone else beat this product!

    finally got mine after 2 weeks, love them. have the Foscam, paid over $100 ea, and these are just as good if not better. The only issue I have is that when you move them to a different room they take forever to re-connect. also I wish you could view the feed on your laptop, like with the Foscam. Had to go out and purchase a longer cord for it, $6 at Best Buy, but still think these are worth the money. Now just make them in black and battery powered and you will have a true winner!!!!

    5 star all the way! I have 7 (seven) of these lil babies and could not be happier! Set-up takes about 10 seconds and you are good to go. LOVE the magnetic base and compact size so they are not readily noticeable to guests; invited or uninvited. I was just in Asia for 2 weeks and was able to view my home and pets with the touch of a button. I could even yell at them from 8000 miles away to get off the chair! I almost bought Nest Cams until I saw these….almost the same specs, but no subscription needed the way you do with Next. Time lapse is a fun function for parties. Night vision is incredible! What more can I say, all this for $20. Its an absolute steal!!!

    I’ve been using three of these cameras for a couple of weeks and they have worked perfectly. One camera came defective, customer service acted quickly to diagnose the problem and refunded the money immediately. The sound quality is not great and two-way communication is a bit difficult as they are not full duplex. In other words, they work like a walkie-talkie where you have to hold the on-screen button to talk and release to listen. If they would improve this feature the camera would be perfect and I would give it 5 stars. In conclusion, I believe you can’t beat them for the price and customer service was great.

    I was considering buying a number of these cams for personal use and as gifts. After reading the mixed reviews I am starting to have second thoughts.
    There seem to be too many issues regarding connection, sd cards, slow shipping, poor customer service or no customer service. I guess given the price you get what you pay for a $20 camera. Taking that into consideration if it is as bad as some reviewers claim its only a small price but if it is as good as others have stated then its a bargin.     Easy hook up and received the update before it let the App work. Once it installed, has worked flawless even when plugging it into different outlets in different rooms. sync is quick with the iPhone thou i guess it would be with any smart phone. Can’t argue with the price, if still functioning well after a weeks use I will definitely buy more for each room. And those giving it 1 thru 3 stars don’t understand the star system especially if you didn’t even buy the cam. 2 thumbs up so far!!!

    Great simple camera. Set up is a breeze. Quality is good, especially in daylight. Best applications are for indoor monitoring. Tried to set up against a window to my porch for security, but the glare on the wind from the ‘night vision’ is very bad. Not good for exterior security.
    Also, interior night vision is good at 5-10 feet, but from 10-20 feet it starts getting weak/hard to see.
    1 – Wish the IR lights weren’t so visible at night. Two “beady” red lights on the camera–my two-year-old couldn’t stop staring at them when I tested as a baby monitor.
    1b – Wish you could schedule a timelapse to be reoccurring.
    1c – Wish you could scrub through continuous recording a see activity as it happens faster. Right now, you have to scrub, then stop for recording to refresh.
    2 – Hopefully Wyze cam will make a weather resistant exterior camera that can be used for security.
    3 – Silly that shipping is basically $5-6/camera with little bulk incentive. It doesn’t cost $15 to ship 3 cameras. Shipping is a commodity, not a way to build in extra margin. But it’s how they keep the price “under $20”. On Amazon they’re $25.98 with shipping “included.”

    Have had issues with continuous recording not being available (with 32gb sd card installed). Camera is plugged in and streaming, but still says “No replay of video in current period.”
    Also, scheduled a timelapse last night for 9 hours–but it didn’t work. Will try again…

    i love this camera! $20 is a great price–The $600 security system we bought 2 years ago is still in the box! Unfortunately, since I love my Wyzecams so much, I gave all 7 of my 2nd order away for Christmas gifts! One was to a friend whose daughter is recovering from surgery and the mother lives out of town. She can now keep track of how her daughter is doing. I watch my dogs or use one as a dash cam. I think every convenience store needs several and maybe the crooks would be recognizable! Ordering more today!

    Absolutely awesome cameras. An imaging nuclear physicist, I find these tiny cameras packed with features rivaling my professional surveillance cameras. The lens aperture, optical field of view, streaming connection time, retrieval time, night vision quality, video quality, and recording/storage options, mounting hardware, ease of optical scanning for network connectivity, creative options for mounting at various angulations, and software alerts are all excellent. It would be very nice nice to have a longer recording time available for Cloud storage. A suggestion is to reduce Cloud storage to 7 days. I’ve purchased 8 cameras and have 4 more ordered. I’ve also ordered some for gifts. Truly unbelievable little marvels of technology at an unbelievable price.

    These tiny little devices deliver amazing video quality and features! I’ll give it 5 stars once we get the option to increase the recording time from 12 seconds to 24 seconds. To keep the DVR service manageable, I recommend to Wyze they reduce the free service to 7 days to accommodate the longer recording times. Otherwise, I own two and plan on purchasing at least another one for myself and another couple for my kids (who have their own homes now).

    All Around Excellent Camera – The latest firmware made it even faster in live view refresh and alert video playback among other improvements posted…Have the following question:
    Trying to gang and setup two cameras back to back and want to daisy chain the power cable. Looking for a short (6-12 inch) USB-A to micro USB-B cable since the stock cable would be too long for the camera to camera connection. However I cannot find a short cable in which its micro USB plug side fits into the micro USB setback socket on the back of the camera! Any links or manufacturer’s suggestion? Wyze Labs should start selling accessories soon?

    I bought one of these to try it out for myself. So far I would say for the price you can’t beat it. No other cam in my opinion comes close when you consider the price. An SD card is a must for those that want to review past footage since the cloud storage only stores a 12 second clip but this is fine being that it is a free service. My only complaint so far that I could image will get addressed in a future firmware update is that every couple of weeks I have to unplug the camera so that it can power cycle and reboot. The reason I have to do this is when I open the app the live feed will show for a second and then freezes and the time stamp does not show time counting on and no movement can be seen in the feed. But as soon as I reboot it the feed is fine again for what seems like about a week or two. Then it happens again and I must reboot it. Other than that issue it’s perfect.

    I was away and when I came back I checked right away Clair and….on youtube and the camera (wyzecam) and I found out I am one of the buyers on back orders. Basing on the reviews, I can’t wait to use mine when it arrives. I have a bit of concern though, I really do not know if my order really went through. I’d normally give 4 star rating because there are still a few minor bugs but nothing you wouldn’t expect from a new product/company. The good thing about it is Wyzecam is on top of their game coming out with frequent updates. The fifth star comes from the price. The quality and functionality you’re getting for $20 is UNBEATABLE! Looking forward to growing with this company and seeing what else they come up with next!

    P.S. As a Christmas present, I bought 5 cameras to set my parents’ house up with Wyzecam. They may only need 3 or 4 cameras, but I’m sure I can find a use for any extras :-).

    These cameras are just brilliant, and provide such great value I wonder how Wyze makes money. I can’t wait to buy a few more for the house, and a few more for work – they are that good. The setup is super easy – and, these little gadgets just do everything on the app very well. I need to figure out how to make night vision work in my instance – but, I do have motion activated lights outside – so I think the best thing is to keep that turned off and use the combination of the real light/outside motion instead, as another reviewer mentioned. The first few days the notifications killed my phone battery pretty quickly, but I learned i just needed to turn sensitivity down – issue solved. Great product – seriously.

    These cameras work as well as my camera set from a well-known router company at a fraction of the cost. The quality is superb.

    The connection issues, some report, would give me pause yet I haven’t had any problems.
    A guess is interference with other 2.4 GHz device’s or router channels. Login to router to change. Worth a try.
    Our holiday lighting is controlled wirelessly. They would at times turn on or off all by themselves. Mystery solved. Found out the neighbor’s Jeep had some electronics transmissions that would send signals to our lighting receiver box that would switch lighting on or off. Had to change the channel DIP switches on our control box. I think it uses 2.4GHz.

    Early on, Wyze support fixed the time stamp issue with a firmware update. I asked, they answered and it was done.

    Night vision naturally doesn’t work well through glass windows. That’ll be OFF but outside lighting works to illuminate the immediate area for the visible light spectrum.

    3 cameras so far. I’m ordering 3 more. Given their affordability, I’ll cover a few more windows to look outside when I’m away.

    This is exactly what we were looking for out of a camera! We are not tech people so we don’t have high expectations for integrations and such, and were just looking for a simple solution to give us some peace of mind to keep an eye on the house when we’re out of town, etc. The price is right, the set up is simple, and the video quality is great. Haven’t tried an SD card yet, but will be looking into it for sure.

    It has a wide degree of sight so we have it set up in such a way that we can see our front door, back door and garage door all from one camera- perfect! Thinking about ordering a 2nd- so many uses from keeping an eye on kids playing in the basement, via live stream, or set up in the hallway outside our kids’ rooms so we can get alerted when they get out of their beds at night; heck even as a baby monitor for visiting friends.     I initially bought 2 of these to replace some HORRIBLE cameras we snagged for cheap on eBay after deciding the Nest cameras were just way too pricey for what they do. I was so impressed with these cameras and the correlating app that I just bought 2 more to REPLACE the nest cameras we already have. For this price, the quality is amazing, the feed is as good as the nest and the app is extremely user friendly. Sure, they have their flaws (the app sometimes does not like to load the camera feed, but I can also blame funky internet for that, too). All in all, these are so worth the price shipping. It will record the event every time but will not send me a notification. It worked for the first 3 times then never sent me another one. Best camera for the price.     I bought 3 cameras and all 3 constantly disconnects. 1 may run all day and 2 may intermittently disconnect or all 3. Trued switch to 720p and still the same unstable connection. Reset modem and all stats with no result. I run very good internet speeds with a good modem and have no issues on any of our devices. Looking at most of these reviews they seem fabricated to boost public perception. Wyze cam build a dud. I was really rooting for them.

    This camera is awesome! I simply ❤️ it. Easy to set up and it just works. It’s very neat and compact and delivers bang for the buck. I gave it a well deserved 4 out of 5.

    A few suggestions for the Wyze Team to get a 5 out of 5 from me:
    1. Add IFTTT support. I own a Samsung Smartthings hub and would love to integrate it.
    2. Offer a developer API. I’m a developer and I’d love to add in some webhooks on alerts or even have the event data sync to my ELK stack.
    3. Allow the open source community to help by allowing them to build extensions and apps (related to #2). We’re full of crazy ideas like the ones I mentioned above and you can even create a market place of extensions.
    4. Allow me to store streams to my own AWS S3 storage. Or even upload to an FTP server. 14 days free rolling storage is fantastic but I want to archive my data in remotely in case the an intruder decides to remove the microSD card.
    5. Add an audio output port. The speaker is soft but it’s still more than I’d expect from a camera with that small of a footprint. Adding a louder speaker would make it perfect for an intercom. Heck I’d love to mount an AWS IoT button next to it as a doorbell and have an AWS Lambda function trigger an “intercom” like workflow that integrates with the camera APIs.

    I just can’t get enough of this camera. Well done Wyze team!

    I’ve followed this camera since release and obviously loved the price and reviews. However I’ve found 1 of my cameras disconnecting on the first day and now a 2nd camera disconnecting on the second. Usually always when it backs footage up to the cloud then it won’t reconnect feed. Only solution is to manually reconnect each camera. Pointless unless they can make this cameras connection more stable.

    Great Camera…I am testing three of them with my iPod Touch 6….a couple of questions:

    1) Will the camera work with 20 feet long USB-A to Micro USB-B power cable in lieu of the stock cable?
    2) I am not able to set the Start and End times for the Timelapse. Is it because I am using iPod Touch? I do have a 32 GB MicroSD card installed and playback works fine.

    Very impressed with the camera so far. Great quality videos and features for such a low price. I’m ordering several more for myself and family. Biggest weakness I see so far is the motion sensor. Even at the most sensitive, I’ve had people walk right in front of the camera just a few feet away and sometimes it will trigger and sometimes it won”t. But then it will trigger on a car moving across the street out the window. I know there are a lot of factors like light conditions, , contrast, reflections etc that determine if a motion sensor triggers or not but still it’s not consistent enough to feel confident that it will record when there is movement in front of the camera, even when it’s close.

    I’m running a house full of connected products, over 80 nodes including switches, dimmers, receptacles, thermostats, door locks, garage door control and a multitude of sensors and yes camera’s. Camera’s are expensive, especially when you have them connected to an NVR. I tried this camera expecting a whole lot of nothing and boy was I wrong. Hooked it up in less than 2 minutes. One of the most simple activations I’ve used, the software embedded into the app/camera is pretty reliable and capable. No, this is not the $200 motorized 8MP camera with laser range finding and stealth see in the dark capabilities. But it is an easy and reliable camera that can be used in almost any indoor situation where you really don’t care if a dog takes it for a swim cause its 20 bucks. Also make good temporary camera’s for say an apartment or a dog house or even a kids play house.

    I just purchased and received 1 camera as a test before i decide to purchase any more cams. I have several different types of Wifi cams including Foscams, Winbook cams and Ring cams. What attracted me to this camera was a good review on Cnet and of course the price. I ordered the cam on Nov 7, with a promised shipping date of Nov 17. I heard nothing from Wyze, no update or anything until I sent them an email. I finally received a response on Nov 20 with a tracking number and a promised delivery date on Nov. 23rd.(Thanksgiving!) Really? I figured it would be delivered on the next day, today the 24th. and it was! Set up was relatively simple, I had to do it 2 X’s before it would take. For the money, it is sure hard to beat! But you get what you pay for. It is very limited compared to other camera apps. Needed improvements (prolly means that it will become more expensive:
    1) A windows/mac based API like most cams have.
    2) The ability to view multiple cams at once.
    3) Better and more responsive customer support
    4) An enclosure for outdoor use
    5) better audio

    I understand that Wyze prolly got inundated with orders and did not expect to have so many people order their cameras. (what a terrible problem to have for Wyze(not us, the consumer)insert sarcasm! I am rating 3 stars for their is much room for improvement. Again for $25 I got what I paid for. With needed improvements, i will have purchased a great camera (I hope that is the case down the road… I will be patient, and good luck to Wyze. (It sounds like you need to hire more people!     ok, i figured that out. If your phone is connected to you home network , make sure that it s connected to a 2.4 and not 5.0 ghz network . that’ is , simple as that. And your camera can finally get connected.

    my experience with video cameras goes back to 2000 when i installed the first at my bar. it was expensive, difficult to use and an overall pain. then in 2015 i tried a new wireless setup, again expensive and not easy to use. then by chance while reading a tech zine last month i stumbled across a review for this the new wyze cam. then i read another, and another, all without exception raved about this product. i bit the bullet figuratively speaking and ordered one to test out. what i discovered on day one was that all those reviewers were spot on with their opinions. not only were my expectations met but greatly exceeded. the ease of use, the versatility, great quality, aspects like sharing, storage local & cloud etc. so i ordered another from amazon(paid a bit more than here but still well worth it.) the app with the two up and running impressed me even more. so here i am now putting up a review and getting ready to order two more. of all my electronics purchases over the past five years or so, this is absolutely in my top five favorites for more reasons than i can list! hoping in the future there will be a version for use outdoors. FYI thanks to sharing i am using ours to live stream Thanksgiving dinner to our family members that aren’t able to travel here. so many benefits!

    I was about to buy 3 Nest Cams for $500 when I saw these. The specs were similar but the price was astonishing for all they offered! I bought 5 of the WyzeCams and could not be happier!!! The set-up was immediate and from opening the box until I was seeing the images on my phone took less than a minute per camera. The build quality is great, the picture quality (day & night vision) is excellent, the ease of use for the app is perfect and the connection time takes only a few seconds. I bought these before an overseas trip…I live in Wisconsin and traveled to Asia… these connected as fast in Asia as if I were in my own home. I could use the 2-way speakers and talk to my family and pets as well as snap pics and get 12 second video alerts if needed. This was great when I would get deliveries…I could see them come and go and tell my family we had a deliver BEFORE they even knew it. These cameras definitely give me peace of mind and I feel more secure about my property and can see what my pets are up to. Its actually lots of fun to be able to yell at the pets when they are doing something they should not be doing. GREAT JOB WYZECAM!!!

    I previously received an email from Wyze saying that my order of two cams will be shipped “between 11/15 – 11/17”.
    However, as I checked online today, my order is still processing without any signs of being shipped out.
    The cams are now back “in stock” but my order never got processed.
    Emailed the customer service two days ago, have not heard from them ever since.
    And the worst part is that there is no cancellation button where I could just cancel my previous order and place an order on the “in stock” ones.

    i was so excited to buy this product. i realized that this does not work for most cases. wyze only work for indoor monitoring only. Auto night vision detection is not up to par. they motion detection is very flaky. i just get a motion detection video every 5 minutes no matter what happens. what the use of it, i have no clue.

    customer support is pretty bad, very hard to get connected.

    i hope these are all software/firmware ware fixes.

    I’ve had the camera for about a week, and have to say I’m pretty impressed for the price! I also have 2 newer Amcrest camera’s (1080p, 1296p) and an older Foscam (720) for comparison. The Foscam was always very unstable with the wireless connection, other than that, which was a big issue, it had a pretty good set of configuration options. So after getting frustrated with the Foscam, I got the Amcrest 1080p cam ($68), which has performed great, and has even more configuration options, but only provide 4 hours of free cloud service, which is better than none at all, but at least a week would be nice, so with the Wyzecam having 2 weeks and being only $19.99, I had to try it. The 1296p Amcrest ($89) is pretty much identical to the 1080p, but also supports 5ghz wireless which is nice advantage. The Amcrest Cams can be rotated remotely, but I have not really had a lot of practical need for that feature, at least not for all cameras, and why the Wyzecam is such a great deal for a fixed camera. The Wyzecam 1080p picture and the field of view and sound is great and very comparable to the Amcrest. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that the wireless connectivity has been very spotty, even with the .52 firmware update, after a day or two of connecting fine through the phone app, I can’t connect and have to power cycle the camera to be able to connect again. The camera appears to be working fine as motion events still happen, though I have had several instances where trying to play notification videos, I get a download error, and no matter how many tries, it won’t download. This has happened also many times with time lapse videos. I don’t believe it is an issue with my router, as it is fairly close to the camera (though one wall), and it works for a day or two just fine. I’m thinking maybe once the ip lease expires it is not automatically trying to connect again, because of this and other reasons it would be nice be able to set up a static ip (maybe this is an option, I don’t recall when setting up the camera the first time, I have another Wyzecam camera coming soon, so I will check it then). Also the 12 sec, 5 minute wait on the cloud videos is really limiting for use as a security camera, I would much rather have 30 seconds for 1 week, vs 12 seconds for 2 weeks and a 1 minute wait cycle. I understand that they are trying to limit the storage, and I’m guessing that Wyze will be wise and a lot of this will get worked out over time, they have a great start with the hardware (assuming the wireless stability is fixed ;) ) 4.5 stars if I could!

    Thank you for making an awesome product! Ap is easy and loads alert videos quickly. Only flaw I’ve seemed to find is the motion sensor extremely sensitive, hoping for a software fix eventually. For the money (even 5x the money) you cant go wrong. I also hope Wyze comes out with a water resistant, exterior rated camera next!

I gave this review five stars, because I have had my Wyze cam for approximately a week, and I instantly fell in love with them. I beta tested one for the company and bought 4 for myself because they are so amazing! I just told my daughter in law that she needs to buy one because someone tried to break into their house twice already, and with the Wyze cam, they can keep an eye on their house. I have no complaints about this camera other than when I try to stick it in my window to aim it into my backyard, all it shows is the lens light kind of thing. I guess I could take a picture and send it to you if you would like. I have SD cards in every camera, and I will post some video if you would like. Great job guys!     I gave 5 stars for innovation, but still evaluating. I have zero interest in using android. I want to use a computer to record/copy the SD card of several cameras for surveillance using wifi. I need a protocol spec so I can write software to control cameras and record off them. I have a hidden computer that will control them, but no internet connection as the site is off the grid. The idea of control via direct wifi with no internet is very attractive, i am just chagrined at needing an android app to do anything. I do NOT want to view the camera with a phone, and I do not want to extract an SD card to get the images. There needs to be a data collector node in the loop for industrial use. Therefore an interface spec would be awesome. I could partner with Wyze if they are interested (I own a corporation in the software business.) I will soon be buying an eval unit just for fun.

    First, this was not a paid review and the opinions are mine alone based on several days interacting with the product. I bought five cameras and couldn’t be happier. I have not installed an SD card yet but am looking forward to watching continuous video when I do.

    1. It was incredibly easy to setup and upgrading the firmware a breeze.
    2. Magnet is quite strong and works well.
    3. Its field of view can be changed in a myriad of directions and it even has 180 degree flip.
    4. 1080P is perfectly acceptable for most people.
    5. The phone app viewing software is very easy to use and gives you a beautiful view.

    I have to laugh at the price of Amazon’s cloud cam. The WyzeCam in my humble opinion is a better product with more useful features such as SD card and longer cloud storage. Don’t hesitate to purchase this cam. Major kudos and many thanks to the WyzeCam folks for bringing us a terrific product.

    Suggestions and things I would like to see.
    A. I would love to be able to watch the camera on my computer in a web browser or with dedicated software.
    B. I would like the option to turn off sound if I am using an SD card in order to save space and give me longer recording before recycling.
    C. I would pay a reasonable monthly fee to have continuous video sent to the cloud or….
    E. Perhaps there might be a way to send continuous video to a home server instead of or in addition to the Cloud.
    F. How about Plex support.

    Lastly, what better recommendation can I give than to let you know that I will be ordering more of these and giving them as gifts to some of my friends and family over the holiday.

    I received my camera a few days ago and love it. It was extremely easy to setup and extremely easy to use. I’ve been watching my dogs hang out at home while I’m at work. I managed to catch my glutton dog eating my grazer dog’s food after I left for work! Anyway I’m so pleased with my purchase that I just ordered two more.
    Why only four stars? Well, it’s not quite perfect (yet). Gripes:
    1. No support for 5 Ghz wireless
    2. USB charge port is not USB-C (small gripe)
    3. Playback scrubbing is near impossible. It’s extremely hard to scrub small amounts of time.
    4. Application loses connection to camera if open in the background to long. Fixed by force closing application.

    I just got this last night and it took about 5 minutes to set up with the app and update firmware, etc. Our cat broke his foot so he’s in a crate during recovery and it’s awesome to be able to watch him in HD and check on him while at work. The video quality is amazing, even better than my $200 Ring camera to be honest. I would highly recommend it, it’s well worth the $20. Planning on buying a second one just to watch the house in general

    Great Camera for monitoring home or pets! I have two set up.

    I had issues with shipping because once UPS handed off to USPS I lost all tracking and made the delivery 2 days slower (it sat in a USPS office for two days 15 minutes from my house).

    Nice packaging. Setup was fairly easy. The first one had an issue scanning the QR code. The second one got it right away.

    A couple nice features to add:
    1) Add a web interface for camera monitoring.
    2) Add a home/away feature or widget so you don’t get constant notifications for your own noise or movement.
    3) Adjust brightness of feed, because lights in distance wash everything out.
    4) Adjust volume of sounds

    Overall nice job!

    I’m so glad someone finally came up with an affordable camera to compete with Nest, Arlo, etc. However, I am concerned about their business model and I really hope they are not planning on pulling a bait and switch down the road (i.e. charging people for cloud storage or other features) like Canary did with their cameras. It cost them big time (just read reviews for their Canary Flex, for example).

    Here are a couple of suggestions to improve these cameras:

    1. Please make sure you have enough cameras in stock so people don’t have to wait 2 weeks to receive one :) That’s an obvious one.
    2. See if you can make them work with IFTTT, Alexa, Google Home, etc. That would be huge.
    3. Make a wire-free (i.e. battery-powered) outdoor version. That would really expand the utility of this camera.

    I have read the reviews and Wyze responses about buying a 32GB micro sb will save 2-3 days worth in HD. If I buy a 64GB, or 128GB, do you have to change the compatibility to it in order for it to store more video? I have seen different responses to this, and how you may have to change the compatibility or you guys suggest just sticking with a 32GMB.

    Also, do you suggest a certain kind of Micro sb? After doing a quick Amazon search, there are a range from simple “Evo” to “Pro” for Samsung. I am not super tech savvy, so I don’t a lot of these answers.

I originally thought I could only insert a 32GB max SD card, but after formatting a 64GB with exFAT instead of NTFS, it worked. Can larger SD cards be used?     Everything from the shipping packaging to the physical design screams SMART! Had very little trouble setting it up and the picture quality is excellent. The sound quality is the best that can be expected from the small size mic/speakers so it only useful for close up talk and response which is a reasonable limitation. The only complaint I had was there was no published description of the purpose of the usb A female connector on the back labeled “usb output” in the manual. Fortunately, my query to WyzeLabs support was answered with a clear explanation that the only current supported use of that connector is that up to 3 cams can share a single instance of the provided power adapter by daisy chaining using this connector. It was not stated by I believe that implies that a higher powered adapter could support even more daisy chained cams. So the suggested stacking of cams with different viewing positioning for wider area coverage becomes even more feasible and neat. Again, another SMART feature (wonder why it is not advertised).

    I’m extremely happy with my Wyze cam! I bought 4 and they work great. They were so easy to get up and running. This is my first dive into wifi cameras. I’d love to see in future app/firmware updates the ability of geofencing if possible. Also It would be AMAZING if you would add IFTTT applets and/or Trigger capabilities so i can turn off notifications automatically when I am home and turn them back on when I return.     For the price, this camera has exceptional function and form. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a smartcam for the home. There are a few things I would like to bring up that may or may not be a problem:
    1. The speaker built-in the smartcam has low output. There’s no way to increase the volume on it.
    2. The metal ring that attaches the smartcam to a fixture comes with a strong 3M double sided sticker. I also wish it had holes in it so that i can screw it into a wall.
    3. The app needs the capability to rotate in 90 degrees increments. Currently, you can only rotate the image 180 degrees.
    4. Need to have the capability to increase alert recording time. An option of 12 seconds, 16 seconds, 20 seconds would be nice. Currently, it only records 12 seconds of alerts.
    Other than the minor things I mentioned, this is a fine smartcam, and worth buying at $20.

    This one star review is customer service based – it sucks! I ordered (3) wyze cams at the end of October. The tracking number for my delivery was issued on or about the 28th of October with an expected arrival of 01 November. The order was shipped via UPS and allegedly delivered 31 October at 1413 hours by USPS. “Allegedly” because I was sitting by the front door waiting for the product all day and nothing was delivered. I called both carriers and USPS made a claim both UPS passed the buck to Wyze Cam. I have called Wyze Cam twice now and on both occasions I was the only one in the queue. Needless to say, Wyze cam sent me to VM and I still haven’t received a call back. The VM’s started early on 01 November so why I haven’t received a call back, after I have paid for Wyze Cam’s product could only be attributed to terrible customer service. Should I finally get this issue resolved I will leave an actual product review.

    This thing is awesome for just $20. I’ve been wanting one for awhile now but wasn’t willing to spend a couple hundred bucks for a Dropcam. I basically just use it to check in on my dog when I am at work (which can be a nice pick me up in the middle of the day). Great clarity and love the zooming in and out. Looks great at night as well. The notifications, even on the lowest sensitivity setting, alert me too often for every little thing, so I left those turned off for now. The app works great and I got my wife on there easily as well and she loves it. But if we are both looking at the live feed at the same exact time, it tends to load slower and isn’t as smooth, but we rarely will look at it at the exact same time so that shouldn’t be much of an issue. To sum it up: BUY IT

    Disappointed in this camera. Setup went fine but that’s where the good experience ended. I upgraded the camera to the latest firmware and it was working fine (for about five minutes). About 95% of the time, when trying to view the live stream in the app, it just sits there trying to load the feed. The status light on the camera shows it is connected so not sure what is going on. I had a previous camera in the same spot as this one and it had no issues with my WiFi. I have tried rebooting the camera multiple times but that doesn’t resolve the issue.

    Support is lacking. I submitted a ticket via email two days ago, got a ticket number but and haven’t heard anything from Wyzecam. If you try calling the support line, it just always goes to voicemail. I am willing to troubleshoot this with support before returning but it is hard when there is no support.

    tldr; I purchased two of these. They are awesome. I love everything about the hardware, design, packaging, and price! The app is just okay and needs some work. Overall, very impressed!

    I’ve had a Dropcam Pro since it was released and use it all the time to monitor pets, my house, my kids, whatever else I need. When it came time to purchase another camera, or few cameras, it was hard to stomach the cost of additional Dropcams. So I tested the waters of the knockoffs.

    I purchased a Yi Home ($39), and Yi Home 1080 ($59). They’ve both been running for about a year and have been okay. There are things I wish they did that the Dropcam does, and things that I wish they didn’t do*…

    So far the Wyzecam has a lot more of what I enjoy about the Dropcam, and a lot less of what I don’t like about the Yi cams. And the price beats them all. I bought two out of the gate because…$20! Kinda wish I bought a few more, seeing as they are on backorder.

    The Wyzecam Pros:
    110° field of view (compared to 107° on Dropcam1, 130° Dropcam Pro/Nestcam, 111.2° Yi Home, and 112° Yi Home 1080)
    MicroSD slot for local recording (Available on Yi cams, NOT on dropcam/nest line)
    14 Day cloud recording for alerts (Available on Yi cams**, $10/month for dropcam/nest line)
    QR code for setup (Same as Yi cam, but Nestcam requires Bluetooth 4.2 which wasn’t available on my previous phone, making setup a pain)
    Good 2-way Audio (Yi’s 2-way Audio is garbage. The speaker and mic are just junk, and software makes this even worse. Nests is great)
    Timelapse (Not available on Yi line)
    Timelapse from the app! (Not available IN APP on Nest line)
    Continuous or alert based local recording (Specifically comparing to how poorly Yi’s local recording works. Continuous recording doesn’t quite work, if you turn off motion detection/sound detection. So you end up with either constant alerts AND continuous recording, or NO recording).
    Smoke and CO2 detection! (based on sound signatures, but still, that’s cool, and not available in other cameras)
    Magnetic base!!
    That design overall, the flexibility to basically mount the device anywhere, and point it anywhere. Even stacking cameras. Very well thought out!
    Even the location of the SD card and power port were thoughtfully placed.
    The packaging; the compact size of the box, including double-sided tape and metal plate for mounting on non-metallic surface, the flat usb cable. These may seem superficial but I appreciate the attention to detail on the package overall.

    The Wizecam Cons:
    The status light is on the BACK of the camera. Hmm
    The power cable is shorter than the Nestcams
    The app….

    The app is rough to say the least. It looks fine, the interface is user-friendly, everything I think I need to mess with is accessible. The only problem is that the app is flaky. Setup didn’t go through the first time. No errors, the app just failed to add the camera. This happened on both cameras I bought. Eventually they both worked but it took longer than expected.

    Every time I open it, be it from a notification, or from my home screen, it’s a gamble of whether or not my cameras show up. At least half the time when I open the app, it shows no cameras, and I have to close it and reopen it for my cameras to show up.

    App notifications don’t clear when I click them. I have to manually swipe them away. Notifications don’t have any info except the camera name and what type of alert happened. This is on par with the Yi Home notifications, but is where the nestcam shines. The nest app shows a playable thumbnail video IN notifications, and the nest app timeline shows thumbnails along with the timeline of events that you can click on to skip to that specific timeline event.

    That said, an app can be fixed. Hardware can’t. Seeing as this product JUST launched, I’m considering the app a beta release and expect these bugs to be fixed quickly. I’ll update when that happens…

    Lack of accessories (Seeing as this camera just got released, it’s understandable, but an outdoor enclosure would be great)
    No API (None of the other cameras on the market have an API but, I have hope for this one. Pretty please…?)

    If something wasn’t in the pros or cons, I either forgot about them (which means they weren’t significant enough to remember :) ) or they exist on all the cameras in this space and thus, weren’t significant enough to mention

    Overall, this is a fantastic camera, at an unbeatable price. It has almost every feature of the Dropcam, and some the Dropcam doesn’t. It meets or beats the Yi on every front. And it has a magnetic base…I mean, come on. That’s awesome.

    *Yi cam has this stupid feature where if you tilt your phone while viewing the camera, the camera digitally pans…as in, the app always starts zoomed in, and what you can see just shifts. So you have to pinch-zoom out on the camera in order to stop that view shift…which then means you’re zoomed all the way out…just annoying, and this feature can”t be turned off.

    **Yi cam has been criticized for their lack of transparency of where your recordings are stored, who can see those, and their TOS for their app being too invasive. I like that Wyzecam specifically tells you where your cloud recordings go (Amazon Web Services).

    I love this camera! Easy to setup and simple to use. Provides alerts when motion or audio is detected with a short clip of what occurred. Also provides two-way communication. Sharp, crisp image with zoom capability and night time vision makes it easy to see.

    I have to say I am more than a little interested in this. I have purchased 2 foscam cameras and spent $100 ea on them. There is that part of me that thinks this may be to good to be true but I have read good things so willing to try. I just wish that they were in stock, I would purchase 4. If I order now will I be charged now or when they ship? Can’t give any stars since haven’t tried them yet but it is asking me to rate so…Wish they were in black as well so they didn’t stand out so much.

    I am super excited to try these out! I just bought 3 cameras with early access and I will be using throughout my home. I currently have Nest (formally DropCam) and they are great cameras, just not excited that I have a $15.00 subscription fee each month. So far the app looks pretty simple.     Pretty clear pictures in both live streaming and recorded videos
    Very fast connection
    Easy to set up and move around
    Packed with features that allow me to use it in various ways.

    I did notice a few bugs during testing, nothing major though.

    I received my WyzeCam early for beta testing and I can honestly say that I love my WyzeCam! I have a lot of fun finding new ways to use it. One of my favorite things is the time lapse function but I also enjoy checking on my cat through the live feed. Turns out that he doesn’t do much when I’m not home. :)
