Device Sharing Permissions

When you share a Wyze device, the invited user can use most daily features of the product.

Some management and configuration functions are reserved for the owner of the device.

Note: Available features may vary depending on the product model, firmware version, and region.

Please refer to the permissions shown in your Wyze app for the most accurate information.

Cameras

  • Shared users can watch live video, talk through the camera, and zoom in/out.
  • Shared users can view and manage recent events related to the camera.
  • Only the owner can change camera settings (e.g., motion detection, Detection settings, notifications) or manage sharing access.

Scales

  • Shared users can use all measurement functions, such as weight, body fat percentage (BFP), BMI, and lean body mass (LBM).
  • Each person can only view and manage their own measurement data.
  • Data from other users on the same scale is not shared.

Locks

  • Shared users can lock and unlock the door using the Wyze app.
  • Shared users can view the lock status (locked/unlocked).
  • Shared users can create and manage their own access methods (for example, personal PIN codes or app access).
  • Only the owner can manage access methods (PIN codes, fingerprints) or change device settings.

Lights / Bulbs

  • Shared users can turn lights on or off, adjust brightness, and change color or lighting modes.
  • Shared users can also create and manage schedules or automations
  • Share access can only be managed by the owner.

Plugs / Switches

  • Shared users can turn the plug or switch on or off through the Wyze app.
  • Shared users can also create and manage schedules or automations.
  • Share access can only be managed by the owner.

Air Purifiers / Robot Vacuums / Thermostats / Sprinklers

  • Shared users can turn the device on or off, change working modes (for example: Auto, Sleep, Cleaning, Heating, Cooling), and view and adjust key functions such as cleaning maps, filter reminders, HVAC schedules, or watering programs.
  • Shared users can view device information, including status, battery level, or filter life.
  • Both the owner and the shared user can manage these functional settings for everyday use.
  • Only the owner can manage sharing access or perform factory reset and device removal.

General Notes

  • Shared users can access core functions of the device for everyday use.
  • Owners retain access to settings, user management, and advanced configuration.
  • Both owners and shared users can view sharing details in the Sharing section of the Wyze app.
  • Sharing can be updated or removed at any time.
