Wyze has provided a step-by-step guide to determine how to install or to identify the screws you used in the installation.

I haven’t installed my camera yet
We've updated the installation guide. If you haven't set up your Solar Cam Pan security camera, please download the corrected installation guide HERE and follow it before continuing to use your product. No other action is required.

I've already installed the camera with the solar panel placed separately from the camera body
No action required. Continue using your product.

I've already installed the camera using the short pan-head machine screws to mount the solar panel on top of the camera body
No action required. Continue using your product. If you have concerns, you may still participate in the recall and go to the end of the page.

I've already assembled the camera using the long flat-head wood screws to mount the solar panel on top of the camera body. Action Required!
The long flat-head wood screws may penetrate the closed-bottom brass inserts and puncture the internal lithium-ion battery's metal casing. This can cause the battery to rapidly overheat, posing a risk of serious injury or property damage from a fire and burn hazard. Click here to participate in the recall.

I've installed my camera, but I'm unsure which screws I used. How do I check if I should participate in the recall?
The video below shows what it looks and sounds like when the wrong screws are used. Here is a video that shows what incorrect installation looks like.
Indicators that the incorrect screws were used:
- Do you remember the screws being very hard to turn or did you hear any squeaking or unnatural noises?
- Did you have to use a power tool to finish inserting the screws?
- Do you still have the packaging and if so are there two or three short pan-head screws still unused? (The original packaging includes three total short pan-head screws, including one spare).
If you answered YES to any of these questions then the wrong screws were likely used. Stop using the product and click HERE to participate in the recall.
If you are still unsure, please see the belows instructions:
If you are still unsure which screws were used, email recall@wyze.com, or call Wyze toll free at 888-832-7226 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT Monday through Friday for assistance. In some situations, professional assistance may be recommended to come to your residence to determine which screws were installed, at no cost to you.
How to deplete the battery and visibly inspect the screws
- Find your device MAC address in the Wyze app under the camera's settings > Device Info, and keep it handy.
- Click HERE to request a specialized battery-depleting firmware update to your camera. After installing the firmware, wait 48 hours for the battery to fully be depleted.
- Once the battery is fully depleted, remove the solar panel bracket from the top of the camera and look at the screw heads inside the bracket cap.
Wyze will permanently disable every camera participating in the recall, and the camera will no longer function. Do not reuse, resell, or transfer the device to another person.
- ✓ Rounded pan-head screws = correct screws were used. No further action required.
- ✗ Flat, countersunk screw heads = wrong screws were used. Stop using the product and participate in the recall.
Disposal Instructions
Note: Do not throw this recalled camera with lithium-ion battery in the trash, the general recycling stream (e.g., street-level or curbside recycling bins), or used battery recycling boxes found at various retail and home improvement stores. Recalled lithium-ion batteries must be disposed of differently than other batteries, because they present a greater risk of fire. Your municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center may accept this recalled lithium-ion battery or device for disposal. Before taking your battery or device to a HHW collection center, contact that office ahead of time and ask whether it accepts recalled lithium-ion batteries. If it does not, contact your municipality for further guidance.
